forgot to update this thread, but I went up to the rec and sparred with the group again this afternoon.

So....NOT fighting on March 24th.
1.) The fights are only kickboxing...I'd prefer to fight MMA, but I wouldn't mind a stand-up match. 2.) (the real reason I'm not fighting) The event is UNSANCTIONED. That's basically the equivalent of pulling people off of the street to fight and charging admission. No doctor/medical staff at ringside and nothing (win/lose/draw) goes on any record. FUCK THAT You can also be barred from fighting by state athletic commissions if they find out you fight in an unsanctioned event. I will be participating in a submission wrestling/jiu jitsu tournament Feb. 24th in Dallas though. Should be fun. And there are several SANCTIONED events coming up in the near future here in Texas...looking at fighting in one in April. -------------------- |

Tournament idea is scrapped...can't afford the $50 for the tourney, gas to and from Dallas, and hotel at the moment.
Anyways, I'm going to start helping Brandon, Glen, and others get into shape with MMA stuff if anyone else would care to join. -------------------- |

So.....
Turns out the Hobbs/Mar. 24th fight may still be on for me. My coach contacted the promoter and had him clarify the specs of the event. Turns out it is sanctioned by New Mexico and MMA fights are on the card. Hell Yes.

Out of the 12 fighters we were sending to Hobbs, only 4 got fights. I am not one of them.
='( That's how amateur competitions go, unfortunately. We'll still be driving to Hobbs to support the 4 members of our team fighting (mostly in kickboxing bouts). -------------------- |
