Wait, So even though the war is wrong and grounded on retarded motives we should not bitch about it? It is our duty as American citizens to criticize our government. We should not sit back and just allow this injustice to continue. After all, I don't want my tax dollars going to fight a war that can not be won.

i'm sure the government appreciates the $23 that a part-time college kid pays them every week. that, and that alone, is what funds this war, right?

the people that pay 35% of their paycheck to the fed might have a little more room to complain.

Secondly, I did vote in the last election. so it is not like I did not do anything at all other then "complain" as you put it. In case you did not realize, this is a forum. I don't see any problem with voicing my opinions on this forum. Seeing as I work nearly 37 hours a week and taking 17 hours, I don't have time to go to D.C. and protest in front of the white house while setting myself on fire.

oh, so assuming you're paid every other week, the government takes what, $50 out of every paycheck? that's a pretty small price to pay, on top of all the other things americans are able to do, to have the freedom to stand up and make changes.

This is under the assumptions that you A) support one of the few candidates or believe in using your vote to possibly go AGAINST a candidate, rather than for the other.

Um, I voted in the last election.

30 hours is considered full time, note I am taking 37. So I don't put much into the tax system. Then again, I don't make very much.

ah, my mistake. if you give up your chance to vote, it's your own fault. imo, people who don't vote really don't have the right to complain for the exact reasons you stated. that's why there are choices and why we live in a democracy. nobody is going to agree with every platform a candidate stands on, so you choose who best supports your own opinions or try to go against the "most evil"

edit: if you make the choice to do nothing, you can't say "i told you so," down the road, because your contribution could have made a difference.

I think that is what it comes down to for most people, but I really hate that from an idealogical view. How can you [general sense] have passion for your political leader choices if you don't support them, as much as you un-support some other dude ?

I know this is a perfect world scenario where you could find a candidate that truly represents everything you believe - but I think people in general don't have enough expectations out of their candidates.
