Why the hell does it seem to me that students in general are supporting them? They basically ripped off the university for $3.5 million in trademark violations and stuck it in their pocket.

basically it was recently found out that Red Raider Outfitters had illegally avoided paying over 3.5 million dollars in royalties to the school for use of school logos/name/etc.

who cares about royalties for school logos? I think its BS anyways and it adds to the cost that consumers have to pay. If college athletes cant make money for playing sports. then we shouldnt have to pay extra for something that has a school name and logo on it. I know that the school extends to more than sports, but thats still the way I see it.

I'm not saying I oppose NCAA athletes receiving extra monetary compensation, but keep in mind that many get full rides

well, their prices weren't anything to write home about, which means they took 3.5 million that should have went to texas tech and put it in their pocket. that hacks me off.

as far as trademark royalties for schools... i have no problem with it at all. i'd rather someone have to pay texas tech to make t-shirts than some asshole making money off the school's name/logo without benefitting the school in any way.

I just think Tech wastes a bunch of money. In all fairness, most schools do. What was the purpose of repainting all the campus police cars a year back?
retardedness

Thats another reason why I dont support this. However, they would get their money using other means probably and that would mean tuition hikes. Its all just retardedness to me.
