Lets see, 50 systems in an entire city, hundreds of people CAN buy them... looks like demand isn't ARTIFICIALLY inflated, more like cost at retail isn't high enough to balance the equation. Free market economics says these systems should be selling for thousands of dollars in order to meet the current demand... all that ebaying does is meet cost with demand... beautiful capitalism at work.

Actually, if you think about it, Sony is cutting their supply for vague reasons. Customersare actually decreasing supply artificially (buying more than one system at a time). Thus demand is skyrocketing.

The equation comes out at Sony sucks.

So how many PS3's are selling for $1500+ on ebay? Are enough being bought at that price to accomadate the thousands that are going to go up on ebay on release? Because though your plan on scalping PS3s on ebay is cunning, I think you're not alone in trying that. Don't be too disappointed if once you get your PS3, you can't sell it.

look here fuck-cake, i spent 12 hours last night talking to all 30 of them fuckers, i know why they were there because they told me. maybe your reason is to sell it on ebay at an increased price, but you're forgetting something. in order to sell one of those fuckers you have to have someone willing to pay $2000 for it. anyone willing to pay that much would be willing to camp out over night to get it in the first place. those people were there because they wanted the game system. get that through your fat eskimo lookin' head

geezus a little sensitive are we? honestly, if someone was in line to get one to sell on ebay, do you think that's what they'd tell ya?

I don't really care if people buy one or two to sell. My problem is with the people who went and bought like half a dozen of the damn things. With supply being as low as it is, that really wreaks havoc on the supply/demand balance. I will admit, though, that the ultimate culprit is Sony for shortchanging retailers. If "manufacturing issues" really were a problem, they should've pushed the release date back.

Well that's theoretically the case, but some folks managed to get multiple systems anyway. Like Jim said, last night he saw one person get four. It's those guys that are douchebags... the rest, meh, whatever.

The news just had a report from this morning. It showed a guy who walked up to 2 people who just bought theirs at best buy, and bought theirs for cash.

One of the guys who sold it was holding a small community of 100's saying "this is why I stayed in line. here's a thousand dollars profit for me"

The probably pulled a stunt like in the movie The Italian Job when delivering PS3's to retail stores.
