i'm contemplating going to best buy at 4 am to get a PS3. apparently there are gonna be security guards there to make sure no one shows up before then. i have no idea how this works. when the doors open is there gonna be a stampede, or will the be some sort of order? i have little interest in waiting there several hours only to be trampled by a bunch of nerds. if someone behind me runs past me, i'm beating the shit out of em right in the middle of the store

when i talked to best buy here, they said about an hour before the store opens they're going to hand out tickets (which specify an order). when the store opens they'll let the first 5 in, let them complete their purchase and leave, then the next 5, and so on until they're out (lubbock best buy is supposedly having around 26 total).

Waiting in line to buy a console is fucking retarded, in fact buying a console when it first comes out is retarded because the first editions always have issues and fuck up. It is best to wait a while before the price goes down and then buy it when you know it will last you a good 3 years or more. It is the same premise behind going to a movie right when it comes out. I always wait a few extra days so I can avoid the long lines and actually get a good seat. It is not like you win some award for getting to play the PS3 first. All you do is lose 4 hours of your life and 600 bucks on a console that will break in a year...

A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

Some coworkers told me that the news reported that at least One Best Buy in the ATX area is telling people to not worry about standing in line. No ticketing or anything

Supposedly on Friday morning they are getting everybody to just pile up in the back of the store, then just set them loose and whoever can run to the front of the store and get inside first, gets themself first dibs on PS3s....

There are rules that ebay has set on selling PS3's.
Check out this auction.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=300049080338

$3333 - overnight shipping - ($600+tax) = ~$2600 profit?

Nov. 16: PlayStation 3 hopeful buyer injured trying to buy console in Wisconsin
Associated Press

WEST BEND, Wis. — A person was injured Thursday morning outside a Wal-Mart department store racing for a chance to buy one of 10 coveted video game systems the store will put on sale Friday.

An assistant manager announced to a crowd of about 50 people that the store was only going to receive about 10 of the Sony PlayStation 3 game consoles and the store official placed 10 chairs outside of the store, police said.

At the signal, the customers were told to run to try to occupy one of the chairs to be able to buy the system at 12:01 a.m. on Friday.

A 19-year-old man ran into a pole and struck his head, injuring himself. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.

I don't think you guys get it. yeah you're a dork if you're camping out to get one to play. If I didn't have to work i'd have been right there with em. let see... camp out for about a day and make $2000+ profit? I'll take that any day of the week. Hell I'd have taken a day off if I thought I had a decent chance of getting one.
