QUOTE (jonathan83 @ Mar 4 2006, 03:51 PM) because the media made a huge deal out of it when Walmat wouldn't sell it before. and everyone on here whined about it. I don't recall anybody here whining about Walmart specifically... I remember people debating about whether pharmacists should have the right to personally decide whether they're going to distribute emergency contraception or not. -------------------- |

yeah i remember that too, but i'm pretty sure there was a big stink about Walmart specifically, because the article itself was about Walmart and how they're a big company who wouldn't sell the product.

I recall there being three women (in New York, I think) who were suing Walmart over not offering Plan B. I think an article about that was on here. I thought it was kinda dumb because the women went and asked about Plan B, knowing they'd be denied it, simply for the sake of pursuing the lawsuit.

QUOTE (Spectatrix @ Mar 4 2006, 06:55 PM) I recall there being three women (in New York, I think) who were suing Walmart over not offering Plan B. Can I sue Burger King for not selling the Hardee's 2/3 LB Six-Dollar Burger? Are these people insane? Reporters who write about things like that are doing society a disservice. That isn't news, that's reporters making a partisan statement by attacking a private company for what it chooses to sell and not sell. The desired end state for WalMart is hard whiskey next to the pop, porno on the magazine rack, and a walk-in abortion clinic between the McDonald's and the optometry lab. Wouldn't THAT make America a better place! |

I think that requiring a business to sell a specific product is asinine. I also don't think that pharmacists should be able to deny distributing a prescription (of anything) if the pharmacy they work at dictates otherwise. Excepting cases where the pharmacist believes that the prescription is fake or that the person is getting multiple prescriptions (for the same thing) from different doctors or something like that. -------------------- |
