Timbo...and any others interested in 1911A1 pistols or hell even getting into handguns at an affordable rate...y'all need to check out Rock Island Armory pistols.
It's a small filipino company with no website. But they are taking the 1911A1 community by storm. by no means are they kimbers, but they're also 4x cheaper than kimbers. a good sign is that pro-armorers take them on to build custom pistols. the stock, straight out of the box .45ACP is around $350. you simply cannot beat that. here is an article about them. but as well do a google search and see that they are solid shoices for 1911A1 lovers. http://www.sightm1911.com/lib/review/RIA.htm I intend on picking up one for my xmas present.

QUOTE well, i don't care for revolvers in general, guess it's just preferences on aiming. and i like that taurus because it's balanced on it's kick back. has a straight vertical profile on the recoil, where as several of my grandfathers revolvers always had a diagonal left or right kick back, which interefered with aiming my 2nd and subsequint shots. i also like the this firearm because it has a lower profile to the aiming compared to other revolvers. when i look down my arm with semi-auto, the barrel is only an inch or so above my index finger. with a revolver, it's about 2" sometimes 2 and a half. thats alot to compensate for when i aim. that is all shooter error and has nothing to do with S&W vs. Taurus. if you're that particular about shooting, it would suck if you ever had to pick up a foreign weapon in a high-stress situation. I suggest taking a marksmanship course. |

i see the springfield 1911A1 is just over a grand MSRP (for the stainless version), which means I bet you could get one for about $850 or less, which really isn't too bad for a badass pistol.
http://www.springfield-armory.com/prod-pstl-1911-fs.shtml ![]() I'm by no means ready for something like this yet, but I wouldn't be shunned by a $850 for a nice gun. I'll prob get a ruger 10/22 or some shotgun for the next piece of my aresnal |

impala that gun is so fucking rad man, but I would love to find where you could pick one up for less than a grand.
across the board springfields are my favorite manufacturer. I own two (pistol and rifle). but the 1911s can be pricey. |

my experience is that if anything gun shops mark them up just a bit above msrp. due to demand/desire. I had to pay about 40 bucks more than msrp for my springfield XD . 45...it was the only one in the store.
gun shows are a rad way to go...though you have to suffer through the bottom of the gene pool the whole day. fuckin weirdos at those things... |

here is the kooky-ass website, but really, if you read around on it, you'll find some outstanding deals. mossberg shottys for great money...Aks for dirst cheap. you just order it and he ships to a local store (costs you a bit in fees, but not much).
