i'm absolutely sick of hearing about how amazing the SEC is and how pitiful the Big East is

people need to wake up and realize a few things. until thursday night, the Big East was the only conference in the country with three unbeaten teams. i realize that their shitty teams might be slightly shittier than bottom dwellers from other conferences, but who cares? to quote Colin Cowherd, you can't judge the architectural beauty of Chicago by a few crappy strip malls in the ghetto. you judge by the cream of the crop.

and i know the vaunted SEC has the history, the rivalries, the 100k capacity stadiums, etc, but i also know they have absolutely zero one loss teams. i don't care how good the conference is, if you can't get through it undefeated you have no business playing for a national championship - especially if there are undefeated teams from BCS CONFERENCES. to me, the SEC is nothing more than an above average conference with a bunch of above average teams.

if a one loss Auburn or Texas team goes to the BCS championship over an undefeated Louisville team (who, coincidentally, will have had to beat a #3 undefeated team and another undefeated team at the end of the season) i might seriously contemplate quitting college football. what horseshit. sorry Auburn, you shouldn't have gotten your asses kicked by Arkansas. sorry Texas, you shouldn't have gotten dominated by OSU on national tv. better luck next year. maybe then you might actually not lose a game and be deserving

Florida and Auburn are both 1-loss teams this year.

I agree with your final sentiments though, on their own accord. I really don't want to see either team sneak their way into a championship game. Arkansas is a good team and all, but the fact remains that Auburn got ran all over. Ohio St. is top dog, but UT still got stomped on, at home. There should be no rematches when the stakes are so high.


Its really too early to tell though....Louisville still has to knock off Rutgers. And if Rutgers is able to defeat both WV and Louisville....its gonna be sad that they don't get their shot.


I lean towards Ohio St. stomping ass on whoever they end up playing....but if thats not the case, we are gonna have some fun controversty.

Funny you should mention Colin Cowherd, on Thursday's show he was railing how the winner of the Louisville/West Virginia game had absolutely no business playing in the national championship.

Were you to switch Florida with Louisville, the Gators would be just as undefeated while Louisville would have at least two losses.

This is all moot, anyways, because I think The 'Ville loses to Rutgers this week anyhow.

rutgers would still have to beat WVU. dont count on that. rutgers will finish out like 15th or 16th in bcs with 2 losses(louisville/wvu). im actually curious who would get the bid if michi loses....

Rutgers is pretty good. They've got a pretty salty two-headed rushing attack with Raymell Rice and Brian Leonard. Defensively, they are a bit undersized but make up for that with speed.

No, not even close. Leonard is their fullback, Rice is their tailback. Their quarterback, Mike Teel, is functional to average.

If ohio state dominates michigan, even in the title game, at least its a rivalry game which raises the unpredictability factor and allows for a tremendous amount of hype from Nov - Jan

I read a fun article today discussing how everybody is bitching about the Louisville / West Virginia game, because of all the yards and points scored.

Somethin like 78 total points, and ~1100 total yards between the teams.


The author said if Louisville's helmets had longhorns on them, nobody would complain about the game, and if West Virginia was bearing crimson and gold -


Cause if you recall the "greatest game of football ever played" from the National Champsionship, you saw ~1050 total yards, and 79 total points....and nobody complained about defenses then.

but then again, if rutgers does beat them, then why shouldnt they go to the national championship....

either way there NEEDS to be a better system....probably a playoff system

I don't think that Pat Forde's analogy really works here.

Last year, Texas pretty much rolled through their entire schedule, beat a top five Ohio State squad on the road and demolished a top ten Texas Tech squad at home. USC didn't slice through their schedule as easily as Texas did, but they still went on the road and beat Oregon, Arizona State, Notre Dame and California.

Whereas the two most impressive wins for Louisville this year, aside from last week's, came against two mediocre to slightly above-average teams: Kansas State and Miami. West Virginia's best win is still Maryland, and the 'Eers struggled against friggin Syracuse and East Carolina.

Louisville does not deserve a shot at the National Championship over Texas, USC, a one-loss SEC team or even the loser of Michigan/Ohio State.

The idea of a rematch for UT just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, especially since the loss to OSU was not close at all.


But really its not worth getting too much into until "The Game" happens, and then the conference champions play, and the National Championship matchup is declared.
