So does anyone know what happened to the Chem building??

I was guessing some freshman probably spilled some chemicals or something. It was funny seeing people walk around in hazmat suits.

Chemistry Building Reopened

An incident in the Texas Tech University Chemistry
Building shortly after 11 a.m. today (Nov. 2)
caused the building to be evacuated for about four
hours. No one was injured and there is no
damage to the building. The Lubbock Fire
Department and its Hazardous Materials unit were
called as a precaution. The Hazardous Materials
Unit neutralized the chemical reaction and the
building reopened shortly after 3 p.m. A graduate
student working on an experiment created an
unexpected chemical reaction. Nitrogen gas, a
naturally occurring, non-toxic gas, was released
and created a loud popping sound.

Classes will resume in the morning (Fri., Nov. 3).

Any student whose personal belongings are not
picked up by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, can pick them
up in Room 104 of the Chemistry building beginning
at 8:00 am Friday.

Nitrogen gas causes suffocation. You don't even know you're suffering from it until you pass out and die. Congrats to that grad student.

p.s. i hope someone didn't think there would be an explosion....nitrogen is a natural fire suppressant

Damnit! I was hoping something exploded or someone died!

--------------------
A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?
