the fact is, these guys did not break any law If these practices are considered ok, what's to stop them from sending you some fake tax form and nailing you for tax fraud? Or buying you a few extra drinks at the bar and then following you out and giving you a PI ticket? another thing i noticed, was the vast majority of these guys were of arab descent, where they have extremely young marraiges. i'm not saying it's an excuse, i'm just saying it was interesting to note. Yes they did break a law. It is illegal to solicit a minor for sex even if the the person that is the *minor* is not truly a minor A lot of law can be proved on intent. As people have said earlier if you ask they must reveal who they truly are. How the hell are you trying to pull the arab card. I have seen just as many white trash guys on that show as I have minorities. Lastly it seems like on Techsans no matter what people say, you always stick to your original opinion and get argumenative about it. Just calm down dude, none of us are out to get you. |

How the hell are you trying to pull the arab card. Oh I dunno, maybe because they showed about 10 guys get arrested, and 7 or so of em were of arab. Lastly it seems like on Techsans no matter what people say, you always stick to your original opinion and get argumenative about it. Just calm down dude, none of us are out to get you. i'm perfectly calm. i like to post up topics that will get people discussing a controversial subject. i enjoy trying to get people to look at things from a perspective other than the norm, whether it's wrong or right, it makes people think. and vice versa, I enjoy reading this forum because it makes me look at topics from a different perspective (believe it or not I do give every idea a shot, even the lance conspiracy posts). it's interesting to see all the different bits of knowledge people bring to the table, and i think it's great when someone demands the source of someone's facts. honestly you could take the whole group of posters here and put together a hell of a debate team. anyhow back on the subject: did these guys deserve to be arrested? yeah probably. are they disgusting losers? most definitely. do I condone sex with minors? of course not (although it'd have been pretty shitty if they'd had a 17 yr old girl and lured a 19 yr old guy). It's just that the manner in which they operated this particular sting seemed as though those they were arresting hadn't broken any actual law (even the girl posing as the 13 yr old when the men showed up was 18). if there is in fact a law that says "it's illegal to solicit sex to someone who simply claims to be a minor" then there ya go. |

You counter arguement is moot because he did not come to the house with his penis hanging out of his pants... didn't they actually get some of the guys to strip and walk into the house naked? i saw some report on these dateline shows before they started arresting people. one guy came into the house naked, and after they let him go, they used another screen name to get him to agree to meet somewhere neutral (mcdonalds) the next day. |

Well it's not good for the girls in question, but there's no intent to commit pedophilia then. Now if the guy shows up, realizes the girl is obviously underage, and still proceeds to have sex with her, THEN you've got a problem. It all depends on how the person is representing his/herself. If they're claming to be underage (whether they are or not) and the guy on the other end is still going along with plans for sex, then he's guilty of intent to commit pedophilia. If they're claiming to be an adult, he's not. -------------------- |

You have to look at it in a cost/benifit analysis: -This benifit to society is detering or catching would be rapists before they have the chance to actually commit a crime against an innocent. It takes away being able to seek out sex with children with complete safety because you can be caught like this. -Cost to society is...? Not sure of a cost honestly. Not gonna catch innocent people since they would have been having sex w/ a 13 year old given the chance (as evidenced by the "chats"). Also, they took it from just a fantasy of talking to a 13 year old, to ACTUALLY trying to go through with the act. So im not sure the detriment to society... it doesn't let the men have the chance to commit the crime before catching them i guess? Plus fairness-wise, these men don't get harsh punishments since they didn't actually commit the act. They get soliciting and lude conduct with a minor which puts them on the sex offenders list, but the punishment isn't that harsh... considering they now have a guy who's been caught twice on that show. So the courts... and society, believe that the failure of these guys to ACTUALLY get the chance with a real minor is much less of a concern than protecting the children from these guys (Who WOULD commit the act had they been given the chance). For some reason i tend to agree |

watching pedophiles stalk out someone and walk into a trap set up by police while they calmly chat over drinks. reading somewhat explicit conversations that were made in private from an adult to a young child? uh what are you watching. because if im missing a program where they actually fuck, man let me know

If they're claiming to be an adult, he's not. right, not guilty of "intent to commit pedophilia", but is guilty of having sex with a minor, which no doubt is much worse punishment, and more than likely happens way more often. the point I'm trying to make is, I think it's bullshit that the police can lie and misrepresent themselves in order to create crime. and that's exactly what they're doing, creating crime. A drug dealer bust is a completely different situation, that person is already commiting a crime by dealing the drugs in the first place, the cop is only buying the drugs to verify. I suppose in this particular case it would be interesting to know how the online conversation started, and see the entire text as well. If the cop was just sitting in a chat room waiting for people to come to him, that's one thing, but if he goes in there as "XXXQTPIEWANNASUCKYSUCKY001" and starts sexual conversations with everyone in there that's creating crime that otherwise wouldn't be there. Is it possible these guys could have found another 13 yr old willing to do stuff, yeah, but we don't know if these guys were starting the conversations or if the cops were. |

Righto, I see where you're coming from. There is a fine line between a legal sting operation and entrapment. If the cops were the ones to start the conversation, I would agree that it was entrapment (or at least borderline). If the pedos started them, however, I would say it's a valid sting.
