i wanna get a 360, but i'm thinking about just getting the core system. I won't be playing online or anything and I won't save music and shit on it. I just wanna play the occasional game. So I'm wondering if getting a core system and a memory card would be worth it or a waste.
and i know the HD is $100 or so.... if i wanted to install a HD months from now, is it pretty easy? like plug-n-play stuff? i wanna kill zombies too

Keep in mind with the extra 100 bucks you also get :

I can get a core for about $270, but after looking at prices of other stuff I'd want, I'd probably be at $350+ before I know it. and i think i can get a premium for about $360. are the higher quality cables that good? i don't have an HDTV or anything.
i suppose i'll turn a hundred tricks on Q this weekend for that extra $100. anyone beat Dead Rising yet and wanna sell it?

Honestly, if you don't have an HD-capable TV getting an Xbox 360 or any of the next-gen consoles is a complete waste of money ...
There is no point in buying a console whose games are all designed around Hi-Def and your TV isn't ... I tried my 360 out on my tv in "TV" mode and "HDTV" mode to compare, and the "TV" mode looked absolutley horrible on it. The whole point of the new consoles is gaming at high resolutions, so you're really wasting your money on them without a TV to play them on. I would suggest getting the TV first then getting the 360 ... Oh and also, yeah, it's worth it for the Delux system....I dont know how anyone lived without wireless controllers before

I got a really good deal on my bigscreen, however I've come to wish that I would have gone for picture quality instead of size ... after playing my 360 on my parent's plasma screen all summer my projection TV, even being totally huge, just doesn't hack it  I'd say get you a small LCD screen TV to play it on or a regular cathode-ray TV that will do HD .... an cathode-ray style tv that does HD shouldn't be more than the Xbox 360 I would immagine.... I'd agree that the whole package is the best deal. Remember, the memory pack costs about $50 and only holds about 64MB. Thus, for $50 more, you're getting infinately more storage.

ok thanks for the info fellas, much appreciated.
one of my buddies has a HDTV and a 360, i'll probably just rent the game sometime and squat at his place for a few days. and spend that $360 on drugs to keep me up for said days |
