ps2 vs xbox, which is better? Options

can you even buy an XBOX that can be modded anymore? I thought they made it really difficult to sodder (sp) to the motherboard in the newly manufactured XBOX's. I thought this had been the case for like a year and a half. Maybe I just dont keep up much.

XBOX = FPS and sports, neither of which would i ever play on console.

PS2 = release date models kicked the bucket early, but mine's been kicking for the better part of 6 years. Two words. Katamari. Colossus. In other words, shouls you ever get tired of sports games, which any true gamer did back in 7th grade, get a PS2, it is for leet.

I don't really care either way, from now on, unless some development miracle happens, I'm sticking to PC and Wii

xbox can be modded, you can download and store hundreds of games on the hard drive, rip rented and borrowed games directly to the hard drive, run nes, snes, genesis, ps, n64, and gameboy emulators on it, play dvds without buying a dongle, etc.

ps2 just plain sucks, loads slow, graphics blow, games suck, controller sucks, and has a pre-teen fanboi crowd who sucks it's cock despite it's huge suckness

anyway, the ones in korea (at least the huge electronic market) has them pre-modded and all sorts of stuff you can add and stuff if you so choose.

But you also said you'd get other games down the road, but didn't give any indication if those would be more sports games, RPG's, platformers, 2D/3D fighters, etc.

NCAA football is available on both, but other games you want may dictate which system to get.

down the road probably means anything BUT those zelda-type games (if thats rpg then there ya go).
i'm interested in maybe other sports games...1st person shooter, etc.

I think with the regular XBOX you have to buy a special remote in order to play DVD's. It kinda looks like your standard DVD remote except its black and has fewer buttons. I think you can get them for like $30 max. If you mod your XBOX, you dont have to buy that remote because the XBOX acts like a media center so will have buttons on the screen that you can use the joy sticks on the regular controller to scroll over to; however modding an XBOX 1.6 is a bitch. I know its been done, but not by anyone that I know.

edit: I know you are in a different country, but if they have any used game shops there, you can get that "dongle" remote for dirt cheep. Typically, XBOX dvd players have had WAY fewer problems than PS2 dvd players. Keep that in mind. NOTE I SAID TYPICALLY

However, I've known XBox's to do some funky shit in the middle of playing a DVD. Fast forwards by itself, changes audio in the middle of a movie, won't change audio no matter what you try to do, show half of the subtitles.

was that with a single XBOX or have you had that problem on multiple XBOX's? Thats a strange problem that I have never seen happen. The problem I have seen with PS2's dvd players, however, is that they simply stop reading DVD's after a while.... a while being anywhere from 3 months to 3 years after the PS2 was purchased. I guess it all really boils down to preference on games. I mean, if you want specific games that are only carried by PS2 then go with that. If the games you want to play are carried by both PS2 and XBOX I would go with XBOX because the graphics and loading times are typically better on XBOX.

I say neither, perosnally I prefer Nintendo if I had to choose, and I might consider getting a Wii. But eh that is me, then again I serieously doubt a company that is one of the oldest gaming companies still in existence will screw up there next gen system in some way. But if I had to choose, cost and reputation, I say PS, but that is cause, as IE 7 reaffirms, Microsoft has not gotten a product right for some time now.

Zune will probably not fair much better than other Microsoft products.

I'm so freakin pissed off. I sold my PS2 a few months back because I thought I was gonna get a 360 in anticipation for the new splinter cell.

never bought one, been busy with all kinds of shit, now it snuck up on me. with all the stuff going on in my life and xmas coming up, I don't have the disposable $ set aside to get a 360 and the game.

so it looks like I will have to buy a used PS2 or GC to play it on. man I suck.
