The funding angle for one. Moral reasons if they were logical... in this case, the fetuses being used for stem cell research are already dead; it's not like people are committing murder specifically for the research. I don't feel that it legitimized abortion, as Bush likely thinks it does.

I suppose my question is, if abortion were illegal (and enforcements were in place to reasonably prevent clinics from performing abortions anyway), would Bush still oppose this bill? If embryos for stem cell research were obtained as a result of miscarriages, would the research have funding now?

if we can get undifferentiated cells from elsewhere, why does everyone argue this!!
