-------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

stem cells are the hottest issue in biology that have not produced much and need lots of research to produce good results. Using cytokines right now to regulate cellular differentiation is not well developed and is a hit or miss right now. In my view:
Stem Cell research is more science fiction right now, and any therapudic effect would most likely come from adult stem cells or from the placenta for that patient otherwise it would be genetically different and may result in cellular rejection depending on how different the carbohydrate chains on the cellar wall are than what the body's immune system is used to. I belive that miRNA research will result in quicker gene therapy than stem cells, but much more limited in the scope. In 2005 scientist made adult stem cells from the nose that could differentiate into other cell types. I belive that this is a moral issue being held as science and masses are ignorant of it. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7283645/ -------------------- Southern Rock, beer and bears!

just because it doesnt get federal funding doesnt mean it wont get funding at all. If you care so much about it, donate to the cause...

Well I would agree... in general, I think the gov't funds too much shit. But I highly doubt that was the incentive here: "This bill would support the taking of innocent human life in the hope of finding medical benefits for others," Bush said Wednesday afternoon. "It crosses a moral boundary that our decent society needs to respect. So I vetoed it." -------------------- |

"It crosses a moral boundary that our decent society needs to respect. National security is an essential part of US taxation....while stem cell research is not. |

You're right, we don't need it.
And I'm not that mad about it anyway (I'm mad that he took around 6 years to veto a bill that really isn't that important). However, if he approves stupid spending in the future, that's what'll get a lot of people angry. -------------------- ![]() |

I don't think tax dollars should be spent on a lot of things, but I do agree that military spending is one appropriate use for taxes. I do think that perhaps stem cell research isn't something that should be federally funded (though I fully support such research philosophically), but I disagree with Bush's given reason(s) for vetoing the bill.
