haha I really, honestly don't have a problem with nuking a few countries off the map. or a whole region for that matter.
but korea isn't one of them. just ride it out until that crazy fucker dies. I'm sure a lot of koreans are thinking that way. |

my bro-in-law is a captain in artillery, he spent a year in south korea right up on the border last year, said they had enough firepower (non nuclear) aimed at NK to level half the country in the first few minutes should any war break out.

cool, but NK too has enough arty along the 38th to launch ~5 million shells an hour. SK reports that NK is believed to maintain 2,500 to 5,000 tons of chemical agents, primarily mustard, phosgene, sarin, and V-series nerve agents (none of which we will ever employ), some is stored in bulk, but a significant portion loaded in warheads at the ready.
there is no non-nuclear contingency plan. we're not gonna chance artillery volleys with that shit. the fast movers would hit them hard with nukes at the outset. the skipper-in-law was there in a posturing/security role. nothing more. I ran recon patrols along there and up into the DMZ. you play little cat and mouse games to see what they have and how far you can push each other. same with the planes. we have a lot of infantry battallions and raid units up there. and tanks. and...you get my point. but yeah, it's all posturing/security. |

QUOTE (CANNONBALL @ Jul 10 2006, 12:54 PM) regardless of infatructure or not...make no mistake...N Korea's army is seriously hotshit. neither us nor our allies have faced an army on the battlefield that strong since germany. there are currently no contingency plans on the table regarding war with NK that do not include nuclear strikes. it's not just an option...it's a necessity. so for japan to say they are debating an attack is the funniest thing I've read in a while. i was gonna say the same thing. history also showed how much those bastards are willing to fight. yes, we were there doing police action, and had our hands severely tied, but don't doubt those bitches know how to fight. -------------------- |

You know, if they go around publicizing that they're considering a pre-emptive attack, NK might just make them turn it into a counter-attack

Japan won't attack unless they know the USA will be behind with them.

South Korea already condemned Japan's little statement on a pre-emptive strike.
I mean really, Japan wouldn't do anything. They're just saying stuff to see what NK might say, or someone just blurted it out without thinking. -------------------- ![]() |
