QUOTE TOKYO, Japan (AP) -- Japan said Monday it was considering whether a pre-emptive strike on the North's missile bases would violate its constitution, signaling a hardening stance ahead of a possible U.N. Security Council vote on Tokyo's proposal for sanctions against the regime. While Japan talked of sanctions, China -- North Korea's top ally and benefactor -- pressed ahead with its diplomatic efforts to draw North Korea back to stalled six-nation talks on its nuclear weapons program, dispatching a high-profile delegation to Pyongyang on Monday. U.S. nuclear envoy Christopher Hill huddled with Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso and other officials in Tokyo on a tour of the region to coordinate a common strategy on the North's missile tests last week and urge Pyongyang to drop its months-long boycott of the nuclear talks. North Korea's missile tests last week caused no injuries or damage, but they sparked international condemnation. Officials in Japan -- badly shaken by the tests -- said Monday they were mulling whether their pacifist constitution allowed pre-emptive strikes on North Korean missile targets. "If we accept that there is no other option to prevent an attack ... there is the view that attacking the launch base of the guided missiles is within the constitutional right of self-defense. We need to deepen discussion," said Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe. Japan's U.S.-drafted constitution, untouched since it was enacted after World War II, foreswears the use of war to settle international disputes, but the government has interpreted that to allow defensive forces. The question is whether such a pre-emptive strike could be defined as self-defense. those poor bastards are still picking fallout out of their hair from WW2... japan doesn't wanna go through that again. and I feel 'em. ok so...throw the whole constitutional debate out the window and let's say japan decides to attack n.korea... c'mon motherfucker...compared to n. korea's army, the SDF is like a fireteam. japan ain't gonna do jack shit! dumbasses... |

But ours could completley level north korea's entire military, infrastructure, and god only knows what else ... without nukes, and without ever setting foot on the ground..... And if Japan were to attack, we'd have to come to their aide or they'd be hurt badly... However, all of this would undboutedly draw china in on DRPK's side which would put russia in a horrible spot and really upset the balance of peace and power in the world. so we should invent transporter beams and just beam north korea to venus -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

Meh, if Japan were to attack, I say let em get their asses handed to them. Now, if the DPRK were to counter-attack Japan, THEN we'd have to come to their aid. We can't let Kim Jong Il be a nuclear power AND an economic power. -------------------- Holy shit, pebkac, you're awesome! I honestly don't think so. thus far the administration's position on NK is to go about dealing with them via the UN security council...most importantly making sure russia and china is on board with telling them to stand down and stfu. if japan's suicidal bonzai crazy ass crapshit SDF went over there, they'd be on their own for the, oh, 2hrs and 47 minutes that the war lasted. all that radiation from nagasaki and hiroshima musta fucked up their ability to analyze self-sustainment in the face of a greater enemy, while simultaneously benefitting them with super-human video game and consumer eletronic powers! |

regardless of infatructure or not...make no mistake...N Korea's army is seriously hotshit.
neither us nor our allies have faced an army on the battlefield that strong since germany. there are currently no contingency plans on the table regarding war with NK that do not include nuclear strikes. it's not just an option...it's a necessity. so for japan to say they are debating an attack is the funniest thing I've read in a while. |

I don't have exact numbers for NK's army but it's something like 1 million ground forces and 7 million reservists.
vs ~200,000 japs. LMFAO |
