http://www.nojazzfest.com/
First Weekend's headliners (April 28-30): The Meters, Dave Matthews Band, Bob Dylan, Yolanda Adams, Allen Toussaint with special guest Elvis Costello, Ani DiFranco, Dr. John, plus MANY more awesome jazz bands! Second Weekend's headliners (May 5-7): Fats Domino, Jimmy Buffett, Lionel Richie, Paul Simon, Keith Urban, The Ohio Players, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, Special Ed & Big Daddy Kane, India “The Princess of Salsaâ€, Irma Thomas, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Doug Kershaw, Little Feat, plus MANY more awesome jazz bands! $30 a day (so $90 a weekend). I can't make it to the second weekend since I'll have a final Friday May 5th, but I MUST go see Bob Dylan LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I may try to fly down there (Southwest would probably have the best deals) or carpool, if I can get most of my semester's work done before then (essays and final exam prep). The URL makes me think it's anti-jazz fest. It's kind of a mindfuck.

Except Before These Crowded Streets, it has more of a middle-eastern vibe to it. -------------------- ![]() |

Obviously, the headliners are more old school rock/folk and such...big names to draw $$$. Yeah, Bob Dylan is my main incentive to go, but the last time I was in New Orleans is the time I fell in love with jazz, so seeing several awesome combos improv on stage for half an hour will be niiiiiiice!
Look at the rest of the line-up: tons of awesome big time and small group jazz bands. Fucking hell, gotta look at plane ticket prices, unless people want to carpool?! This post has been edited by Psykopath: Feb 28 2006, 08:13 PM -------------------- |

dmb albums' do them no justice. they're better off putting all their new shit straight from concerts cause it's 10x better.
DMB has some jazz to it (mostly off the crash era) but they toss alot more of it into their concerts, some stuff that ain't released like sugar will. -------------------- |
