good idea for a site. just a suggestion here, get the bars involved. sites like this tend to go up and the guys who made them get excited, but then realize that updating it is a boring job and eventually abandon it (similiar to that other site someone mentioned). if you devise some simple password protected update site where a bar manager could simply log in to update their own specials, you eliminate your need to ever touch the site again, and since the bar managers would know about it, they'd probably be more willing to advertise the site to their customers. anyhow just my $0.02.

problem is i cant really see bar people really doing that, yeah its "free advertising" but i dont really see them taking their time to do so on a regular basis

They lose business when they don't. I stopped going to conference cafe because their specials always changed and I had no way to finding out the special of the night, because study breaks was always wrong.

That has totally been the plan from the start. I am going to get each bar a user/pass and let them do the updating. They would have to be idiots to pass up on free advertising.

Here is the plan as far as specials go. The specials will be displayed for the current day only, you can then click on a day of the week and get the specials for that day. In the database the specials are going to have an expiration date and once that day comes they are not shown anymore...
Pictures at the top of the site are going to rotate through different bars. This may be more trouble than its worth but I dont know. That is an easy fix, the big thing is getting the site up and running 100% Thanks for the input though, keep it coming. Okay, the site is pretty much done. I need to pretty a couple things up and get a "tell a friend" script but those are no big deal. Let me know what y'all think. I also made a little page that you can access from your cell phone the link for that is http://drinklubbock.com/mobile/ and it works on my Sony Ericsson...let me know if you have any troubles. Our database already has spots for bar bios, band info and stuff like that and we are thinking about including that in the specific bars page but keep the home page clean with just the basic info. We really want a site that can be setup and basically updated by bars so we dont want to get in over our heads and will have to find the right balance of information.
