Oguchi Onyewu doesn't look like he belongs out there right now. He keeps pissing the ball away, and it really hurt when they scored that second goal off his bad clear.

did anyone watch the Japan/Aussie game? It was nuts at the end. Three points in under 10 mins. I missed the American game because I was at work. Did they not pass the ball? Bad Luck? And how many shots we got on their goal.

Yea we totally sucked it up out there. It was like watching a little kids soccer game. They would all clump together and pass it like 3 ft and then wonder why the defender would be able to get to it. All their passes were pussy footed too, they had no force behind them. Also they never went to the middle of the goal, they'd always pass it to the side and then try to center it for a header. If they would have gone to the center they probably could have gotten more than one shot that was worth anything.

USA looked horrible out there. i don't know if the US sucked that much or Czech Repub. did that good of a job of making our key players damn near useless.

I hate to diagnose the psyche of anybody whom I've never met, but I think there's definately a deficiency in this year's team. Reyna and Keller and McBride are all good leadership types, but what I don't think they have is a cocksure young punk. We got down early (and then by two goals) and I didn't see anybody say, "Alright, mf'ers, time to bust some balls" a la the Hanson Brothers. Nobody said "give me the ball and let's go!"
Is Eddie Johnson the guy? Maybe, he showed flashes. I want to see him play all game.

-Drop Lewis back to leftback (where he played for part of the game)
-Remove Convey and Mastroeni
-Add Johnson up front
-Drop Donovan to a support striker role
-Add O'Brien (He looked fit enough to me)

GK-Keller
RB-Cherundolo CB-Onyewu CB-Pope LB-Lewis
DM-O'Brien
RM-Reyna LM-Beasley
AM-Donovan
ST-McBride SS-Johnson

USA is still living on a dream that FIFA ranking has anything to do with how a country will perform in a world cup.

Can you actually believe that Italy which is ranked 11th by FIFA is worse than USA ?

Can you say Australia, which is ranked around 50th, wining over Japan, which is ranked among top 20, is an upset ?

I don't think so.

Football outside of America has a whole different meaning.
So please be respectful and admit the fact that players from other countries are better than players from USA.

for America Soccer is a secondary sport, money isn't in it. Same reason why American boxing is suffering. Anyone who is good enough for the heavyweight is playing football. Better pay and less attrition.

Korea won against the 61st ranked team w/o their coach. I do believe America was overranked, but would win against S Korea

Announced today:
Donovan will be moved to midfield. Check.
John O'Brien will start in midfield. Check.
Eddie Johnson will start up front. Check.
EJ also grabbed some headlines by saying:
QUOTE
"We're here for a war. We came here to battle, we came here to represent our country. Whenever you put your jersey on and you look at your crest and the national anthem's going on, and you're playing against a different country, it's like you do or die, it's survival of the fittest over 90 minutes ... We're going to go out there and do whatever we've got to do, make tackles, do the things when the referee's not looking ... and get three points."

Attitude. Check.

Now all we've gotta do is actually get out there and get three points.
