Sony wants to stop people from being able to resale their PS3 games after they buy them.
http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=c...d=3086&Itemid=2 Now how many reasons do you have not to buy a PS3? 1. Most expensive game console in history. 2. Crappy game lineup. 3. Draconian game licensing. 4. Image constraint token will keep you from watching HD movies in HD. 5. Blu-ray has DRM. Let's not forget about the rootkit they distributed with their CDs. Sony and their DRM... hah. They're doing everything possible to shoot themselves in the foot. |

theres always the option of buying the game/lisence then selling it back to sony when you dont want it anymore, sony can then destribute used games back to stores for a lower cost of sale at the expense of an inceased price due to shipping while still screwing people over by charging inflated prices for used games where it would still be easier to just let buyers resell the games themselves.

The only way this would be cool is if the games were like $30.
But they'll probably be $60-70. Lame. -------------------- ![]() A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have. |

I MUST HIT TEH GIANT ENEMY CRAB'S WEAK POINT FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE! I agree, PS3 is the worst abomination to hit the video games market. Sad part is, Sony's right: QUOTE "We have built up a certain brand equity over time since the launch of PlayStation in 1995 and PS2 in 2000 that the first five million are going to buy it, whatever it is, even it didn't have games." http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060522-6885.html Retarded fanbois WILL buy it no matter what. Even if it has no games, even if it costs upwards of $1000 (excuse me: $999), even if the console ate the discs after 1 round of gameplay (truly effective DRM) They're addicted to sweet, sweet, milky Sony-semen. Gulp down buckets of the stuff, they do. Timbo -------------------- ![]() |

Ok, I remember news coming out about this when people discovered Sony's intellectual property that would facilitate this. I don't see them designing their systems such that a game gets registered with a specific PS3. Even if they implemented such a thing, it would get DESTROYED in court. If I buy a game, even if (by implication) I'm buying a *license* to play that game, I still have the right to play that game on any damn machine I choose, whether it's my own or a friend's.
If they simply plan to make it illegal to sell used games, who is that REALLY gonna stop? It will just create an underground used games market and will dig deeper into game maker's pockets when people start selling bootleg "used" versions of the game rather than their single, legitimate copy (possibly keeping a bootleg for themselves). -------------------- |

This really isn't a bias account here, now is it?
Does anyone who actually enjoys their PS/PS2 like or dislike the idea? It seems that everyone who posts on here is just simply against sony. -------------------- ![]() |
