Alright, I was wondering what you all thought about this...

I have been to parties where they charge the guys $5 for a cup for the keg. Well, I am having a party for my birthday next week and I was going to get a keg, make some BBQ, and just have a good time. However, I cannot afford to feed and provide beer for 100+ people (and yes y'all are invited), so is it ok for me to charge $5-6 in general for food and beer?

sure, but try to get definite yes's from people who are going. That way you know people will still show up even though there is a charge.

yeah if you are having that much stuff provided for them by you most definitely. and they would probably be expecting to help out financially or they wont be suprised or offended. ive never charged and i usually buy alcohol for free use but i cant imagine anything ive had was 100 people friendly much less all that food

if they know there's a charge they won't show up, just tell them it's free then when they get there tell them it's five bucks... they'll probably be ready for alcohol and won't wanna drive anywhere else so they'll cough it up

plus, its a birthday party. people are going to be more willing to pay. i think you should be ok. Some people will even throw in more money since they know its your bday. Make sure you let people know that the reason for the party is your birthday.

Its pretty damn hard to not get screwed when it comes to hosting parties. If you are going to have that many people, you'll probably want 3 kegs or so I'd imagine ?

If you tell people you have 2 or 3 kegs on site, and they see them, they are generally more likely to pay.

You will also have lots of people who conveniently forget to bring cash.

I think you have every right to request 5 bucks or so. Shit, beer ANd some food ? That's a good deal. Not everybody else will see it like this though.

Most of my friends are cool enough to bring money and don't mind chipping in, but there are always a few that you just want to hit for being retarded.

Yea, 5-6 bucks is a good deal, and to prevent getting screwed just have 1 person hold the cups. That way people have to go through that 1 person for a cup.

Keep in mind there will probably be people that chip in more (close friends/etc)

saying you do not provide food and say to bring your own meat, but still ending up with a bunch of hotdogs/burgers from sams as community food, should turn out pretty good.

If you got food too then most people will pitch in 5 or 6 bucks. But I hate these mother fuckers that get a keg of keystone (60$) and charge everyone 5$ for a cup and there's definately 30 people, and probably more. Fuck those bastards.
