You can clearly see the RFID antenna in this clear credit card:
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=17944 QUOTE Wave your RFID credit card to get a burger But don't wave it too much By Adamson Rust: Wednesday 18 August 2004, 14:30 BURGER OUTLET McDonald's said it will accept payment for its meaty products later this year using radio frequency tech implemented on Mastercards. It will trial the method at some of its fast food joints in the US - in particular in Dallas and the Big Apple - using Mastercard Paypass. This will let you, according to McDonald's, "wave" your card near a till that uses RF chips to complete payments. Verifone card tills which can interpret the wave and charge you for your burger and chips will be used to detect your Paypass credit card, said McDonald's. The idea conjures up a strange vision in the otherwise banal business of buying and stuffing your face with burgers. A whole fast food joint full of hungry and possibly overweight people waving their credit cards at a cash till while smurfing the net, using the awesome power of the Centrino, is an image that verges on the surreal. Mastercards official RFID credit card page: http://www.mastercard.com/us/personal/en/a...pass/index.html It's time for your to build an RFID shielding wallet if you don't want me to intercept your credit card informaiton from a distance. ![]()

I don't know about RFID credit cards. How do you verify that it's reading your card and not someone else's card? If you have to be in close proximity and have the card out, then you might as well swipe it through the magnetic reader. I'm sure it'll have a value in the future, but currently, I don't see any benefit to it.

I think it has to be in fairly close promixity (couple of inches). How that makes it easier than swiping, I dunno. Less wear and tear on the magnetic strip, I guess! In any case, I don't yet need a duct tape RFID-proof wallet -- none of my cards have RFID chips in them.

I think that RFID for the most part is fairly low frequency. If the carrier frequency's wavelength is shorter than the longest slit in the foil, then the RF shielding is fairly useless, but I think it gives a mind of comfort.
