So often do people discuss things such as Freedom these days. Ever since 9/11.
This is not about 9/11. What is freedom ? To you. An ideal based on what people in the past have "died for ?" I hope not. But then again, I possibly don't really care what you think. I think Freedom lives much beyond any nation. This isn't about government. This isn't about anybody telling you what you can and cannot do, say, or think. My knowledge of the Marquis De Sade is very limited. I just recall watching Quills at some bitch's place, back in my sophomore year. At one point he is locked up in prison, and he is still drawn to write. He uses his shit to smear on the walls and keep writing. That my friend and foe, is Freedom. I could never claim to live disregarding the government on any level, and doing everything I want. There are laws and restrictions. The people I see that I want to kill, beat and rape are protected. I have to live with this. However, you can make the choice of whether or not you live Free or not. I believe if it is in you, its not a matter of choice though. Is it in you by birth or not ? I really have no idea. I'd love to think we are all created equally and are all capable of achieving what we want. But I don't believe this at all. The colony exists because there are different tiers of ants. I am an elitist. I used to believe that we are all the same, and there is no reason to treat people differently. No more. I embrace personal Freedom. I know somebody who is Free as well when I get to knwo them. I know somebody who cripples themself when i meet them. I'd pity them, but its not worth the effort. Its not that I only respect those who are Free, its that I respect anybody who keeps fighting the good fight. I dont' care if I agree or disagree with it. Blue has said it many times, and its one thing that I keep fresh on my mind : "you fight man, cause what else are you gonna do ?" Those who are Free fight on and do what they must. They have nothing to justify to others. They have everything to justify to themself. Speaking of Blue, we had a discussion earlier. I told him I'd give up everything, and let everybody else die, if it meant I could have the ability to be a bird. To fly like a bird. So what is the point of this essay ? I think Freedom is much more than a fucking flag. Much more than voting, and anything we consider it to be. It's more than being able to choose our religion. It's being able to look yourself in the mirror. To me that is the ultimate question. How do I feel after everything I do ? How do I view myself ? I do not believe in the existence of altruism in the least bit, because I think everything comes down to the self. I do good deeds because I wouldn't live with myself if I didn't. I'd be upset and angry at myself for not doing it. Sometimes it is because I like the person so I want to help them. This is not a question as to if you are Free. Quite frankly I dont' care what you say. I know it if I know you already. You have nothing to prove to me, ever. If you ever think you do, goddamnit I already like you less. -------------------- QUOTE (Lance) now we have some dude from argentina wondering how to fuck dogmeat |

a little bit of Mills.
Nice one, Rocky. Me, what am I thinking? I'm thinking about how I really am a selfish bastard in that I want my grandfather to dole out the money he has set aside for inheritances to me/my brother/my father/my uncle asap so that I can go to grad school/law school. I'm thinking about how much I want to smash in the faces of random assholes at random times, for no reason...just to see the reactions of people around me. I'm thinking about how much I love Jennifer, and how that love is only equalled by our mutual love for zombies and gore. I've been reading so much political philosophy lately, and it's made my head spin and opened my eyes in many ways. I want to read every book I can grab, and understand it all. I want to pass my knowledge on to others for a living. I want a cabin in Cloudcroft so I can spend days just sitting on my porch playing guitar, drinking beer, and reminiscing about old times. Does this post qualify, Rocky? If not, awesome. If so, awesome. Stop stranger, stop as you pass by. As you are now, so once was I. As I am now, soon you will be. So pray, prepare to follow me... ~~ "Old Jimmy's" epitaph, England -------------------- |

NOTHING IS EVER GOOD ENOUGH.
Realizing you can always do better isn't enough ! You have to plan to do better. Go further. I loathe the day I declare that I did everything I could. That will never be acceptable. -------------------- QUOTE (Lance) now we have some dude from argentina wondering how to fuck dogmeat |

I agree.
That's why I want to keep living as is...progressively learning, progressively growing. I plan all the time, but I also live in the here and now. -------------------- |

I do not believe in dreaming.
I don't mean what happens when you sleep. I mean the idea of thinking about something and calling it a dream. I can't relate. There are no such things as dreams to me. Only plans. Plans imply that the mission is set forth and you just require some time to achieve. Time, materials...whatever is in the way. Things you are in the process of gaining. Dreams imply it is almost fantasy, if not fantasy. How dare anybody accept this to be reality. If this is you. You disgust me. I can't relate, and I never will. -------------------- QUOTE (Lance) now we have some dude from argentina wondering how to fuck dogmeat |

QUOTE (Psykopath @ Feb 26 2006, 01:00 AM) I'm thinking about how much I love Jennifer, and how that love is only equalled by our mutual love for zombies and gore. now you need to take that next step and actively prepare!!! i ordered this yesterday 16" Smith & Wesson Kukri ![]() as for rocky's thread, i spend much more time seriously contemplating my true self, what actually makes me tick, my emotions, and what it actually means to be a "man". the unmoveable rock, that shelters and protects, the wise mentor that the young can learn from, and the nurturing loving father/lover, the man that simply being near him makes everything seem like it will be ok. i believe that a combination of these three, and firm set of moral ideals, no matter WHAT they may be, as long as you don't simply follow them, but LIVE them, is what it means to be a man. many males are capable of being 1, or maybe 2 out of 3, but most males, while putting on their protective armor to be the sheltering rock, end up armoring that one point they feel to be the weakest, their emotions. the wise mentor often throws all emotional reason out the window in favor of pragmatic logic. many cultures actually have a ceremony in which young males are officially declared to be men. and the change of the mentallity of those now young men is actually surprising. sure, nothing actually changes to the young man, but the active realization that his society acknowleges him to be a man, kinda...shocks him into the idea that his childhood is over, and that it is now time to act accordingly. i feel that this ceremony is necessary to a young man.. it would put some meaning to ideals that we as males are raised to live by, and without it, we will continue to a bunch of bearded children acting the fool. it doesn't have to be a serious ceremony, but simply the acknowledgment of a mentor, or ones father simply verbally telling his son in all seriousness "you are a man now" would do wonders for our society. well, i have let myself ramble quite a bit -------------------- |

I was 17, looking down at myself wearing all black, chains, black fingernails, makeup and industrial boots. I was cutting myself on a regular basis by then and dying my hair very often for the same fucking reason. It finally clicked. Looking different was only just a way to easily “smell your own†so that you could find someone and maybe not be alone. Even with someone you’d still be just as angsty.
So that day I threw all that shit away, I shaved my head, popped in a copy of SLC Punk into the VCR. Punk died in the late 80’s and this goth bullshit was just a feeble attempt at throwing off the arms of social norm oppression (but put on yourself expectations and oppressions you wouldn’t believe). Even goth’s have a class system. It’s about who you are, the way you live, and the things that you are willing to fight for. I had picked up the name Epic by then but I had never really lived up to it. I was different but I was conforming one way or another so I finally decided to just live, and fuck the labels. I knew I was better than everyone else so I was going to act like it. I’ll spare you all the details of what I did then. This is what it means to live as a punk today. The only true punks from the 80’s are still over in Germany occupying a few remaining abandoned buildings and sit down when they pee (guys too). I’ve read books and essays about “modern punk†and its all just a throwback to the way it was and how today’s youth will never be able to leave like that. Modern punk is about confidence. It’s the confidence to be different, whether you look like it or not. It’s being confident enough to get in a fight, maybe even if you get your ass kicked, and standing up afterward and still calling him a fag (or a neophyte if you want funny looks). Being punk has nothing to do with anarchy because anarchy died. Any way you slice it, the reliance upon anarchy brought on the death of punk. So today’s punk movement is about living within these walls. There is system, there is structure, but a punk lives inside of this while doing as much damage as he can. Call me a jack in the box if you want, but our lives are framed but we can still throw some paint on the canvas. So fuck you and your “oy!†It’s just a borrowed Yiddish term anyway. |
