I am getting ready to move and I'm trying to figure out the best way to get to my apartment and since 20 is out of the way I figured I would explore 114.

I see that it goes through the DFW area, but I remember people having to pay a toll. If I drive that way on my way to Irving do I have to pay a toll to use 114?

Other suggestions on routes?

I assume ur moving to north dallas?

I live in Plano and still took 20

114 is smaller roads(and you have to slow down in every little town) little bit shorter but you dont have cell phone service for a large part of the trip, and there is no toll to my knowledge, or it can be avoided

it's much faster to get to north dallas/plano. you can get to plano in 5 hours flat.

there is no toll along that route, unless you get on george bush off 35

Yeah, there is no toll. I took 114 all the time, I prefered it. No traffic, no bull, little bit of loss of cell phone coverage, but who cares. Better scenery too, and no Post-smelly-stuffs. DO make sure you slow down in all the towns, but you pretty much roll in them and roll out, so it's not too much of a problem.

I prefered taking 82 to 83 to 380... i think that's a slight deviation of 114 (i think 114 is actally 82 all the way to 380) but i prefer my way.

I take 114 to Irving all the time. I would say that it is probaly the fastest way to North Irving, but if you plan on going to South Irving it is probaly faster to go on 20.

Yeah, I'm going to North Irving, like north of 635.

im from west ft worth and dont know too much about getting to eastern dallas anymore.

i usually 114 because my house is 10 miles from the 35W/114 junction

20 would be a better route for Dallas area people. too many stops on 114 that can screw u or annoy u

for the Irving area...114 would be better because its more of a straight shot

635 is too fucked up though

i usually take 114 to 380 to 35, takes just over 5 hours. The tiny towns kill the benefit of the straight shot though. It's 40 miles longer for me to take 20 and takes the same amount of time... Started taking 114 after spending an hour trying to get through the one stop sign in post. Fucking worthless town with it's construction and stop sign... (still bitter after 2 years)
