ok so it's a "launch" of a beta then. the point is, it's a beta. as in, not the final product. the guy says in the comments firefox is one of their next priorities for the site.

i don't really understand the problem anyways. there's all kinds of situations like this in computers. i for one hate it when i go to view some movie and it's in quicktime format. i have no desire to download that stupid ass viewer that asks every damn time you open it if you want to upgrade to the "pro" version that costs money. but if this happens, guess what? i don't watch the video. not cry to the people who hosted the video that they don't have an avi or mpg.

hmmm strange, I never get a prompt asking me to upgrade.

Betas are launched all the time, Gmail, Flickr, Google Maps, A9, etc. are all launched but are still betas. It's a safeguard for these companies so that they don't have to pay people who are "disappointed" with the software. Alpha's are private and betas are usually live or public launches.

Do I give a crap if Live works in Firefox? No, I probably won't use it anyway, doesn't seem to have anything new or exciting for me.

yeah beta doesn't mean shit anymore. the real "betas" now are "alphas".

isn't gmail STILL in "beta"?

and yeah, that pro problem only seems to happen with you.

i also think that this is quite possibly something microsoft did on PURPOSE. balmer has been known to be overly aggressive with shit like that, contrary to popular business sense.
