Now, to be fair, I think the title of this article is a bit misleading in that it makes it sound like the pope is wanting us to go back to thinking the world is flat.

QUOTE
In tonight's Good Friday meditation the Pontiff will condemn abortion - stem cell research - and genetics -blaming such scientific advances for trying to eliminate the family.

Yes, what he's saying is debateable, but I don't really think he's saying anything new.

He's just being more blunt about it. I think it's a bit harsh for him to call geneticists insane, though.

Bush doesn't write his own speeches either. What's your point?

I think science should get together and issue an 'inane apologia' about the hipocracy of the idiot pope.

QUOTE (chook @ Apr 15 2006, 11:55 AM)
what did he say during the good friday service?

From http://www.vatican.va/news_services/liturg...-crucis_en.html

QUOTE (3rd Station)
Lord,
we have lost our sense of sin!
Today a slick campaign of propaganda
is spreading an inane apologia of evil,
a senseless cult of Satan,
a mindless desire for transgression,
a dishonest and frivolous freedom,
exalting impulsiveness, immorality and selfishness
as if they were new heights of sophistication.

QUOTE (5th Station)
Lord Jesus,
our affluence is making us less human,
our entertainment has become a drug, a source of alienation,
and our society’s incessant, tedious message
is an invitation to die of selfishness.

Lord Jesus,
rekindle within us the spark of humanity
that God placed in our hearts at the dawn of creation.
Free us from our decadent narcissism,
and we will find new joy in life
and burst into joyful song.

QUOTE (7th Station)
Surely God is deeply pained
by the attack on the family.
Today we seem to be witnessing
a kind of anti-Genesis,
a counter-plan, a diabolical pride
aimed at eliminating the family.

There is a move to reinvent mankind,
to modify the very grammar of life
as planned and willed by God.[1]

But, to take God’s place, without being God,
is insane arrogance,
a risky and dangerous venture.

well, you people can bitch all you want, but nothing's going to change. pope john paul ii believed the same thing as every future pope will, too.

this is absolutely nothing new. this is like the new pope announcing to the world that he's pro-jesus.

only a radical change in catholic views is going to get a pope that has less conservative views.

maybe we need to get some liars in there. get them the position of pope and POW. fuck em up.
