QUOTE (Jessica @ Apr 13 2006, 01:02 PM)
so then is there air or not? I want impala to be wrong just cuz it would be funny. If there is no air, im going to launch a mission to put a jar of air on the moon.

Well, according to Wikipedia:

QUOTE
The Moon has a relatively insignificant and tenuous atmosphere. One source of this atmosphere is outgassing — the release of gases, for instance radon, which originate deep within the Moon's interior. Another important source of gases is the solar wind, which is briefly captured by the Moon's gravity.

Then you can safely say that yes, there is air on the moon, then people can be like OMG REALLY and go to the moon and instantly have all of their capillaries burst upon exiting the spaceship

I'm reading a book by Carl Sagan and it says this "Our Moon, for example, has at its surface less than one million millionth the atmospheric pressure on Earth." So its really small.

No, it's not. But I think "insignificant and tenuous" is probably a good description for the moon's atmosphere.

'air' is a term we have given to what we breathe mainly nitrogen and oxygen. the 'air' on the moon is completely different in so much as it is no longer what we call 'air'. its a different mixture of gasses that exist in what little atmosphere the moon has do to gravity and all that shiiiiiiiiiit

I didnt know the moon was a vacuum? I mean, I dont know much about astronomy but isnt a vacuum where there is a complete absence of air. There is air on the moon.... and gravity. Just not much of it.

oh....my....god.
