Now I agree with this woman, but not on the grounds that she's basing her argument on. As long as said speech doesn't become harassing, it should be protected on Freedom of Speech grounds. However, to say that Georgia Tech is infringing upon their rights as Christians is just retarded.

From reading the article it didn't seem that these people were claiming certain rights just because they're Christians, but moreso that they're forced to act a certain way that's against their beliefs, in order to promote or protect a completely opposite belief.

I guess gay people are terribly sensitive, as I distinctly remember these same things happening at Tech when I was there. When I was a RA man you got chastized if you used the word gay in a sentence like "omg that's gay". It's really stupid. People who take offense to something like that can find a way to take offense from anything.

I'm not sure where you're coming from....

They're not being forced per se to do anything. They're just being told NOT to do something.

There's no difference between forcing someone to do something and forcing them not to. And when it comes to free speech you can't allow oppression of one sexual orientation and disallow the other, which is exactly what Georgia Tech is doing in this case.

I know Texas Tech had the "free speech zones" or whatever, but they didn't choose what view could be represented and which couldn't. I'd see Christians one day and gay people the next.

Yeah, that was my point. I oppose Georgia Tech's policy on free speech grounds. Complaining that they're infringing on their religious beliefs is just stupid though.

I'd worry about it affecting the learning process, free speech so long as it doesn't interfere with the classroom
