to me, this is as much the phone companies fault as the guys fault. They should have contacted him when he started raking in millions of dollars worth of phone bills and not waited to hit him with a massive bill. If he really was under the impression that the phone was offline, then who is anyone to say "you should have known"

i worked for cingular one summer and i dealt with peoples accounts and billing s and there were tons of people who owed thousands of dollars. stupid minorities

Big difference between thousands of dollars and trillions. I can't imagine why Cingular would let someone rack up a bill more than a few hundred dollars, though...
