Leave it to you to bring a knife to a gun thread lol yea. tripped me out, i got a call from them (toll free) from nepal yesterday. the person had no accent when speaking english, i seriously thought that the person i was talking to was white/canadian. then he said something to someone in some funny moon man language, and i was like... "wow" (the guy was asking about my hand measurements to personalize my grip. i kinda like that they hand-forge the knives as they come in, the personalization in a nice touch.) -------------------- |

how do they suggest you take your hand measurements? they told me to grasp my dick firmly by the base.... lol they asked me for my ring size (13). and they asked me to tell them from longest to shortest, the order of my fingers. (middle, ring, index, then pinkie) apparently your grip changes alot if your index and ring finger are the same size. thats all they needed, so they would know how shallow to shape the finger grooves in the grip. -------------------- |

So i've never fired a gun nor have I owned a gun but i'm looking into purchasing something affordable and good quality... most likely a handgun. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Does anyone have any suggestions. i'll prolly ask you alot of questions, but really, the main ones i need to know are:: revolver or semi automatic? will this be a defense, or recreational gun purchase? (i understand that you aim for both, but usually the choice leans one way or the other) -------------------- |

Well , primarily recreation. Although if i had to defend myself I would want the gun to function effectively.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() got the kukri in the other day, and i am highly impressed. it was well worth the $110. the only thing i am slightly worried about is that it might be TOO big... heh. the site says it has a 13" blade. which is true, but they don't factor in the 2" of steel above the hilt before the blade begins, and don't measure around the curve either. so, in truth the blade on this knife is huge. it also wieghs 4 lbs, and it's not an exaggeration. the thickness of the spine is 5/8" thick, and tapers to 3/8" the majority of the construction, and the finel tapering to the edge is only about 1/2" wide, so it is a very, very thick knife. the craftsmanship is excellent, this thing is ment to last. and the grip DOES fit my hand, so that is a definate plus. it is also extremely sharp. this doesn't have the edge of say, a hatchet, or something similar. this is a 4lb KNIFE. i have no doubt to the validity of the rumors of a kukri being able to behead someone with a single strike, now that i have held a real one. on a urban survival note, this is probably going to replace my warhammer as my primary melee weapon. the convienience of the sheath and it's portable size will allow combat indoors, with low walls and hallways, where the warhammer (though lighter) can't be used properly. NOTE:: please understand that this knife will not replace ALL of your cutting needs. a smaller, sharper skinning knife will still be your most useful one, and some will say that this blade is simply too heavy to validate carrying it. -------------------- |

Nice... looks like fun. Let's a picture of this warhammer you speak of.
On a guns note, finally took out my M4 this past weekend... God I could shoot that thing all day, it's so awesome. Also fixed my .22 pistol and shot it too, wow it's like butter, friggin 2 lb pull. Point and think about shooting. I had modded it with a different rear trigger sear and lost a tiny detent bearing on the thumb safety when re-assembling, and it caused the safety to engage while shooting. I called Ruger and they just asked for my name and address and sent me the part free of charge... nice. |
