So I guess the average mpg of a light duty vehicle in 1975 was 13.1 mpg. In 1987 the average mpg of a light duty vehicle was 22mpg. So a 68% in fuel economy isn't helpful? source: http://www.epa.gov/otaq/fetrends.htm have they changed the definition since then? Just seeing if they lied Mark Twain Style. -------------------- Southern Rock, beer and bears!

I think the fuel economy standards should be based off of torque output per pound of fuel burned, not "miles per gallon" ...
That way consumers would at least still have some flexibility in buying what cars they WANT to instead of having the government dictate it to them. But then again, I was just as opposed to the whole SUV craze as any environmentalist was. I just don't want this fucking things up for those of us who actually need 6,000-lb vehicles with big motors in them -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

It shouldn't matter what you need. The government shouldn't be deciding this for us.

I agree, however I also agree that is the stupidest thing ever for idiots in urban Los Angeles or the like to buy 6,000-lb 4WD "SUV's" to drive around town in. but thats their choice. i had the same similar feelings towards open carry permits in texas. no, i do not want every gang-banger idiot wearing a gun tucked in his belt like it's a necklace, or some other fashion statement. but is it my right to infringe on his choice? not in the slightest. -------------------- |
