I think the fuel economy standards should be based off of torque output per pound of fuel burned, not "miles per gallon" ...
That way consumers would at least still have some flexibility in buying what cars they WANT to instead of having the government dictate it to them. But then again, I was just as opposed to the whole SUV craze as any environmentalist was. I just don't want this fucking things up for those of us who actually need 6,000-lb vehicles with big motors in them
