I could be wrong but i was pretty sure the proposition included liquor as well.

Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

Actually i'm a 100 percent sure it does. Look at the wording of the proposition. If it didn't include Liquor then why would TAAS lead a misinformation campaign about liquor being sold in grocery stores and warning against liquor stores opening up near homes.

The liquor stores asked 237th District Judge Sam Medina to bar the city from issuing the necessary paperwork to obtain alcoholic beverage permits until an agreement can be reached on the wording of the ordinance

Where on earth do you get "christian conservative politics" out of this?

Your ignorance gives me a headache. Read the fucking websites associated with the pro and anti alcohol sales camps and you'll clearly see this is yet another case of your religion being exactly what you're scared of - being ignorant fucking retards

Truth hurts. Go cry about it.

I did read the website. Not a single reference to any religion or political view.

Do you really believe that Christians and/or conservatives are the only people who opposed this thing?

This ordinance will allow beer/wine/liquor in the city limits. It does not exclude the "hard stuff."

Conservative right wing bible belt Christians are generally irrational and ignorant. That ad is irrational and ignorant. Yeah, I can reasonably deduct who is behind the TAAS. Then again, I can understand why you'd have trouble grasping the concept

You obviously didn't go to the site the thread is referencing (lubbockcountywins.com) because it mentions the church affiliation on the first page.

It's pretty easy to deduce that the majority of people opposed to alcohol sales in the city are conservative Christians. If you were in Lubbock and drove around you would notice that most of the against signs happen to be in front of churches. And since most people in this town are conservative i can logically deduce that they are probably conservative Christians. I suppose that the 10 Muslims in Lubbock were also opposed. But i'm sure that there were a FEW christian conservatives that also voted for the proposition.

You "deduced" your statement based on some signs in front of some churches???

Why don't you "deduce" this:

According to the AJ, 36% voted against the resolution. Are you going to sit there and tell me that the same city which you dubbed a "conservative christian dustbowl" in your original post is only 36% comprised of christian conservatives?

No. Again, most people that voted against it were conservative Christians. I'm sure that some conservative Christians voted for it as well. Impala you and I both know that the reason most liquor laws exist is because of christian politics. An example would be no liquor on sundays. I'm not sure why were are having this debate other than the fact that you l like to argue.

And what evidence do you have to support this?

Obviously. So since Christian Conservatives obviously voted on both sides of the issue, how in the bloody hell can you pin the notion "mostly" against them?!?

You keep using these words "christian politics". Whatever that is supposed to mean. And "most liquor laws"? How many are there? Why does the whole country generally work Mon-Fri and take Saturday & Sunday off? Is that "christian politics" too? Does it not make sense to try to allow the general population to sober up before Monday? I am not saying I agree with any of these laws, I just don't think your pinning it all on christians is really valid. You act as though it's some kinda clear cut, christian=anti-drinking and non-christian=drunkpartyanimal.

I know that Southern Baptists (and some other denominations?) are against drinking. I could certainly see them being against making Lubbock wet, but not necessarily Christian conservatives in general. Hell, Catholics even drink in church! laugh.gif
