Yo Yo Yo!
I'm moving to Tech in a few weeks. Junior at Chem Engr. I was at UT-Austin's School of Engineering, but I guess I really *ucked up grades with all the videogames/sex/drugs/alcohol (it was mostly just videogames) this past year that it's put me on probation. So I'm moving to Tech to start over/ become serious about college again and all that. Kick in the nuts? I hope not! -V -------------------- |

Oh cool! Getting responses this early in the morning. Nerds FTW !!!???
I don't really know how bad ChemE gets. I barely went to class the past year. Uptil the sophomore year I liked it. Dunno, but I think studying that hard and not really getting anything out of it other than a lame social life really sucked. Now I gotta make up for wasted money. I just know I need to spend more time outside when I get there. And stock up on alcohol. Know any nice places to live? -------------------- |

Know any nice places to live? I stayed at Sierra Crossing which I thought was nice. They were built around the 70s, so they were a lot more sturdier than the McDougal Complexes you'll find right across campus (shit, I've forgotten the names of those...). I lived in a single and it was $400-ish for rent -- but that didn't include any sort of bills. I had no trouble with anything -- nothing in the room broke the 18 months I was there, the staff was friendly. It was a good experience in my opinion. The sucky thing is it is right across 4th st. where there is a shitload of construction (at least when I was there). So although it is "technically" across from campus, you can't really get there that easily. But yeah, it ultimately is up to how much you want to spend and the sort of atmosphere you want to be around. -------------------- ![]() |

[/quote] Don't know if you know this, but Lubbock is a dry city so you have to outside the city limits to buy it (about 15 minute drive from campus) and the prices are of course marked up. I would suggest buying it in your hometown and bringing it when you move. You'll save a lot more money that way. -------------------- ![]() |

I can afford like $ 500 for rent and utilities. Don't mind going a little over that. I'm looking at Copperwood and Honeycomb 'coz they're really close.
Yeah, I know about the alcohol situation and they feed stuff to cows now so they don't shit mushroom mycelia. Oh well... I called Copperwood Apartments which is on Main st. and they said it gets loud sometimes coz there's a BAR RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET and they sometimes "park their car here, get towed and then throw bottles at us 'coz they get angry." I just called them. I see the advantages of having a BAR RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET though. -------------------- |

Bash's is myu favorite place to go, which is one of them. (i think it's bash riprocks, icehouse, crickets, and ricky roads or something like that, and then the other college favorite is Chimy's....all withijn half a block and next door to each other) -------------------- |

$ 485 for a 1 bedroom at Copperwood. I don't mind it considering the distance. I wanna have a place where I can have friends come over and relax after a possibly stressful day at college. That's how my apartment was over here. After I got a gf that stopped all that and my life got dull.
Which ones of yall still go to Tech? -------------------- |
