So I've been gone from the US for 1 year and a half going back and forth between Denmark and Germany and I have no idea what is going on back home. I return in a couple of months and thought I should at least know what's popular. Some stuff I would like to know:

What TV shows are becoming "must sees" -- I am stuck in Germany and only CNN and MTV are in english, and I would be willing to bet that "A Shot of Love With Tila Tequila" and "Quest Means Business" are not attention grabbers. Seems like I've been hearing more about 30 Rock lately...

I couldn't even name a movie that is coming out this summer except for Wolverine. What should be good?

How are food prices/gas prices -- any major jumps in buying shit. How much for a Big Mac meal.

NBA basketball -- I know the rankings but who are the "favorites".

Anything interesting going on at Tech/Lubbock -- new buildings, is Marsha Sharp complete, etc...?

What are the dumb ass fashion trends that I shouldn't be shocked to see -- huge ass sunglasses still in vogue?

Anything else I should know?

-not sure on TV shows, I don't watch prime time stuff

-star trek comes out may... 8th? I think. looks pretty good

-been a while since I been to mcDs but I dont think prices like those have changed much. gas prices skyrocketed but then came back down... a little under $2 for a gallon right now in southeast houston

-lakers are favorites right now, not sure about the east. was nice to see the rockets spank portland last night in game 1. maybe they'll win a playoffs series for the first time in 12 years

-I am not in Lubbock, but when I went up there for the OSU game this past football season I was amazed at how much new stuff there was. new stores, roads, 289 complete, etc. lots of new stuff to the west & southwest it seems

-all I know of fashion is shorts & t-shirts and ball caps so I'm the wrong one to ask on that... though it does seem (thank the Lord) that the huge sunglasses thing is starting to die down.

dude ive been gone from the US for a pretty long time, and really you can find most of those answers on the internet. i check espn and cnn daily just for those kinds of things.

although i would also be interested in knowing about the whole marsha sharp highway and if there's any other stuff going on in lubbock. pictures would be great.

when I was there it was open at the west loop, you could get on the marsha sharp, then onto the flyover to the west loop. wasn't open on the east side yet though.

Tapout and Famous seem to still be popular.

Marsha Sharp construction still sucks balls.

Every thug and frat boy in town wears TapOut, Affliction, and Xtreme Couture clothing so as to put off a wannabe fighter image.

Lubbock may go "wet" May 9th. It's the biggest push in a generation to legalize packaged alcohol sales within the city limits.
So far the "pro" group has out fundraised & spent by a 2-1 margin the "anti" douchebags.

Food prices went up with the summer gas spike across the board (because of trucking costs)...and they haven't come down all that much.

"Public Enemies" ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1152836/ ) looks pretty good. Comes out July 1st.
