http://governor.state.tx.us/news/press-release/12227/

It seems like Perry is doing a lot lately to get the spotlight on him and to provide a strong counter to Obama's policies. No official announcement yet of course, but let's say I wouldn't be surprised...

I first had my initial suspicion when he denied the federal funding for unemployment aid, but now with this, "Keep Washington out of Texas" bill, he looks like he is really trying hard to move up on the Republican ranks. Who knows, maybe he is just trying to retain his govern position in the next election against Hutchinson. *shrug*

So what do the Repubs think about a possible President Perry?

I think whoever the Republican candidate is will have no problem winning. Not sure how I feel on Perry though. I really haven't researched him much.

<rambling>
A lot of shifting is going on in people's views, especially congress. Despite the dems controlling congress, it seems like they are becoming a more conservative on stuff that used to be key issues. I.e. stuff like gun control. Big conservative organizations appear to be making inroads in congress, like the NRA. They're supplanting the big liberal organizations that used to have a lot of power like the ACLU. IMHO this is a very good thing. Now if we could just get them to sway more conservative on their fiscal and foreign policies I think we'd be ok.

I hope Gengrich runs...

The only think they'll have against him is "Oh well you've been divorced twice and are a Republican so you aren't qualified to be president"

No way he's running for president. Even he surely knows he wouldn't stand a chance.

Looks way more likely that he's trying to get attention in Texas so he can compete with Kay Bailey Hutchison.

There's a lot more chatter than normal going around now about Texas seceding and what not, and I seriously wouldn't be surprised if Perry ends up favoring secession, so he can run for President of Texas.

i dont think so either, but there's definitely a lot more talk than usual right now.

hah even chuck norris was talking about it. and did anyone see the drudgereport yesterday? main headline was a huge texas flag, and perry calling for texas' sovereignty.

not saying it would ever happen, but ppl sure are talking about it.

btw here are several links to some articles talking about the texas secession . a lot of interesting reading here...i just googled texas secession and found these.

1st: this is the news conference Perry made a couple days ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LHrIxc-QyE

2nd: http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2009...t-texas-secede/

3rd: http://www.tribbleagency.com/?p=4759 "Texas threatens secession:

4th: http://www.star-telegram.com/elections/story/1305537.html

5th: http://austin.decider.com/articles/chuck-n...resident,25622/

6th: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?pageId=91103 Article by Chuck Norris talking about seceding

7th: http://www.burntorangereport.com/diary/840...texas-to-secede

as you can see, it's not just right-winged news outlets floating this stuff around.
again, i dont think it'll happen, but more people are getting into this. there are even some pretty big facebook groups.

the big tea party thing near nasa had ron paul speaking supposedly. i didn't go but apparently there was a lot of people but it didn't last long. interesting to hear perry say that kinda stuff, but again I think it's just talk. I think it's just a bluff to get the idjits in washington to pay attention.
