add this to "the pussification of america"

what's messed up to me is that after VaTech, faculty are required to report all kinds of things now. I have to go through a mandatory update every semester on "warning signs" for many issues and am required to report to my dean on concerning behavior i see in my classes. Reasoning is, that if we see something but don't do enough about it, suddenly we're sued from 4 different angles. I'm not defending this professor, because none of us were there to hear the presentation and don't know what he said that alerted her red flags. One student here gave a presentation in his communications class about the stress relieving ability of playing counterstrike for a few hours and the quote "Nothing like blowing off a few heads to blow off a little steam" was reason enough for investigation. Luckily it was determined that he wasn't the kind of guy that would shoot up the school in any likelihood, but my colleague had to report the issue in case he was a danger.

It's all just fucked up.

I agree, counter strike is awesome

Actually, the scariest thing about that article is that they brought up a list of all guns registered to him to "ask" where he kept them. Glad my guns aren't registered in my name.

they were supposed to discuss a relevant topic in the media to give a presentation on and the student chose gun control

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,504524,00.html

the asshat professor called the cops on the poor kid, has the quality of our universities really sunk this low?

I took an "intro to communications" class at tech.

that was absolutley the most pointless meangingless useless bullshit class I've ever taken in my entire life.

That, and the days the professor actually felt like showing up for class, he couldn't go three fucking sentences without mentioning the fact that he was gay.

That is the most worthless major in existance today.

Agreed, I took that same class. The one thing I remember from it that was so amazingly stupid was this:

Human communication - I "encode" my thoughts into a "message", which is sent over a "channel" to another person, where they "decode" the "message" into their own thoughts, then we have successfully communicated.

This is material we were tested over... It's like something you'd teach retards.

If you were a EE you didn't have to take it. I think they expect us to shut up and find out where our staplers are.
