Wow, the market has plunged during Obama's speech...

You actually think Bush is/was a great President?

He was on the level with Harding & Hoover.

You go ahead and laugh while everyone with common sense will just look at you with pity in their eyes over your ignorance.

you assume i said he was great. i said he will be THOUGHT OF as great.

you think that e'd be a flop..., but his name will be all over the histores, and later down the line, when younger generations have forgotten the small details of his reign, the one thing that will stand out about bush is "we were attacked, and we attacked back on a serious level...." with broad generalizations the only way you can interpret that is "patriotism" we may know different, but will the future generations?

edit:: and one other thing:: people in this world with common sense are severely lacking...

We'll really have to wait 50 years and see.

Just because popular opinion despises proverbial "ickyness" and becomes incredibly gay and whiney in the face of this purported "ickyness" does not mean that in 50 years it could be well-proven that what he did was prudent and necessary.

I don't see the attacks on citizen civil liberties as something that will be looked upon as "great."

It would have happened no matter who was in office during the last 8 years.

Even before Bush took office privacy was extinct.

The internet is to blame for that more than anything.

Nobody, not me or you or anyone else, can claim that with any certainty at all.
The fact of the last 8 years is that our civil liberties were SEVERELY scaled back
in the name of "security" under Bush & company's watch.

Do you really think you had any privacy whatsoever, or that the government wasn't doing what it is now AFTER the Patriot Act passed?

Nothing changed, they just put it in writing was the only difference.

It was illegal.
They made unconstitutional acts "legal" via codification in legal jargon.

It is now "legal," though now it acts as a precedence to slide on down the slippery slope of NEO-CON AMMMMUUURICAN FREEDOM/infringements of civil liberties and rights.
Come on January 20th.
