Yeah,
Tech should have at the very least went up one ranking. And how is Okie Lite right behind us now? -------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

I actually like the cowboys, they beat Missou and deserve a good ranking. I would say that lots of this ranking is horseshit, teams ahead of us loosing to unranked teams. Glad to see UT up though.

IMO Tech shouldn't be ranked top ten. I think we have a good team but we are very erratic. Luckily we are winning the close games we would have lost in the past.

Luckily we are winning the close games we would have lost in the past. i agree that we arent playing like a top 10 team, especially after our close game with a bad nebraska team...but what about usc? they actually LOST to a bad oregon state team, and they're now above us. -------------------- ![]() |

9 out of the top 10 teams would kick our ass. usc included.
we don't deserve to be #5. i'd say 14 or 15. -------------------- Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.

I think the sports writers favorites are not performing well and that is why we have teams jumping all over the ratings. In the past I've noticed the ratings didn't change as much. I can't really speculate too much.

9 out of the top 10 teams would kick our ass. usc included. we don't deserve to be #5. i'd say 14 or 15. Well, Tech isn't playing Alabama, Penn State, Florida, USC, BYU, or Georgia this year, so saying those teams would kick our ass is a moot fucking point. They will be playing the other three teams, UT, OU, and OSU, so how about you wait until they actually play them before attempting to rank Tech, k? I swear, it seems internet messageboard nerd and syndicated talk radio show host dweeb are replacing common sense and rationality when it comes to ranking teams. I don't give a shit if USC or Florida have more five star recruits, more talent, richer history, or more NFL prospects than Tech. I don't care if at the end of the season, USC and UF have a better shot at playing for the BCS title game than Tech. This isn't the end of the season, this is week 7. Tech has won all their games, while USC and UF have both lost to unranked opponents. Tech should be rewarded for their efforts as such and be ranked higher than USC and UF right now If Tech ends up losing a few games and other teams run the table, by all means the other teams should jump Tech. But wait till that happens before doing so. And if it does happen, don't come back like a moron with "Hey! I told ya so!" Using that logic, let's just wait for the preseason rankings in August and crown Georgia the national champion. Fuck playing the season, everyone seems to be the expert and knows how it will end up anyway. This obviously doesn't apply to teams like Ball State, who play schools like South Philly Community College. -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

One other thing, the thing that's made college football the most talked about and popular sport in America in the last 10 or so years is the same reason college football has a rankings problem.
Talk radio and especially the internet have given rise to the stat nerds who analyze shit way too much. You used to have to have some semblance of talent and competency to score a gig talking about sports on ESPN or Foxsports radio. Now, you just have to be controversial and piss people off. Colin Cowherd, although he's my favorite radio personality, is a fucking idiot when it comes to being rational about college football. "Well, USC is a better team than Tech because...." then he rattles off 900 rivals.com recruiting rankings, 600 head to head matchups, compares coaching, compares home field advantage, analyzes the decibel levels of the stadium, etc etc. Cool, USC has hotter cheerleaders. That must extend to the talent of their football program. Or, "Well, USC is a better team than Oregon State and if they played 100 times on a neutral field, USC would win 85 of them. Fine and dandy, Colin, but you're forgetting one key point: USC only has one chance to play OSU this year. They blew it. You can talk all you want about what might happen if they played another decade worth of games this season against them, but it's a moot point, because they won't. Or, "OU should still be ranked #1 over UT because they're a better football team. If they played another 9 times against em, OU would win 7!" Again, that's why they're out there playing the games and you're sitting behind a microphone talking to overweight middle aged guys driving to work. You don't, and shouldn't ever be voting in any top 25 The internet is even worse. Screw having any knowledge of football, you just need a brain functional enough to open a blogspot.com account to spread your idiocy to the rest of America. It also helps having a few bucks to throw at Google to get your URL to jump up to the top of their search engine. At least ten years ago, the dumbasses were relegated to local sports talk radio and the back page of local newspapers, where only a small portion of the population had to be influenced in thought by their stupidity. Now you can get stupid anywhere and everywhere, and it's causing people to actually think a three loss Auburn team is better than a 1 loss Missouri team, and should be ranked higher -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

I just think that in the top 10, teams with a loss shouldn't be ranked higher than teams with no losses.

rankings are meant to say that #1 would beat #2, #2 would beat #3 etc. that's why they're called 'rankings'
make a separate system for who's beaten who's put in front of them. or just don't release any sort of rankings until week 8. -------------------- Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.

I am thinking of coming for the UT/Tech game. Anyone know who is selling tickets or someone who would "sell" me their student seat?
