So, my little boston terrier puppy decided to knock over my xbox 360 while i was playing rockband and, as will tend to happen when the disk is rotating and you move the system, there is a perfectly circular scratch around the circumference of the disk causing it to give me "disk cannot be read" errors.
Any way to fix this? Anyone have it work? Or do I have to buy another rockband 2? -------------------- ![]() A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have. |

They sell disc resurfaces, which scratch a layer off the plastic. If its deep that its a new copy.

wowzers... that sucks. Try calling Microsoft or whoever creates that game... too lazy to get up and look at my copy. Maybe if you pay them $10 S&H, explain the situation, and mail them them scratched disc, they will send you a new one. It's a long shot, but it might just work.

OOOO wait... Where did you buy it? Game Stop and MAYBE Best Buy sell warranties you can purchase with the game. I know at Best Buy, when you buy electronics, you have 30 days to purchase the replacement plan. All you have to do is take your receipt in. Maybe it's the same situation with the games. Go to the store you bought it (unless it's WalMart, I know they don't), ask if they sell warranties on the games, ask if you can still buy it since you haven't had the game long (assumption because it just came out like 2ish weeks ago). It should cost a whopping $5-$10. Then, wait like a few days after you purchase the warranty and go exchange out the game. Might work. Ya never know. Just tell them you didn't have the money when you purchased the game so now you have the money and want to buy. Pull the broke college student routine, even if you aren't in school anymore.

Oh and Walmart will take returns on ANYTHING (just pretend like you bought it there, and you don't have the receipt). Tell them it was a gift and you got it like that.
There, 3 options for ya |

A disc resurfacing is your best bet. I think you can get it done at some stores, but it might be worth your time to buy a resurfacer. We have one and it's come in handy on numerous occasions.
I wouldn't suggest warranty or return fraud. Highly unethical, imho. -------------------- |

I never do the returning shit idea, but the option is there for those who chose. The warranty idea isn't fraud. That's what they are for.

How is buying a warranty after the item is already damaged NOT fraud? It's equivalent to buying car insurance and trying to get them to pay for pre-existing damage, because it's still within the 30 days of purchase time frame. To each their own. I see nothing wrong with purchasing a warranty you know you're going to use. As for returning a disc damaged, all that they do is send it off to the manufacturer who uses a whopping $1 to make a new game. You already paid for the game development when you initially bought the game. Now all you're doing is getting a clean copy of the game. If you feel bad about it, mail the manufacturer an anonymous check for $8 to cover shipping a new game to the store, burning a new copy of the game, and inserting it into a new case. To pay another $60 for a game you have already bought is retarded though. Hence why I said call or write a letter to the manufacturer as my initial solution. You may never know. They may have an RMA program where you purchase the game for really cheap and mail the damaged copy back when you receive the new one. I see problems with doing what I am saying with other goods, but video games is retarded. They are expensive because of the game development. He probably only had the game two weeks before it was damaged. He just barely paid the high price which covers the game development. I can understand having to buy a new copy of a game that you have owned for over a year, but this game is brand spanking new. |
