Can someone explain to me how it is possible to get sunburned when it is cloudy outside but still not be able to use solar power? I'm curious about this

heh, well, personally it has never happened to me but I have heard that it's best to wear sunscreen in cloudy weather also because the sun's rays can actually be intensified by the clouds. *shrug*... probably just more BS scientists feed us.

It depends on what wavelengths the solar panels are designed to absorb. Clouds cut the visible spectrum, obviously, but still let through a lot of UV light.

Maybe if you pray to Jesus 4 times a day you won't get sun burned.

the sun's UV rays never cease

you are bombarded with them regardless of the time of year

you can tan in the middle of winter if you want to

Clouds reduce more IR (heat) than UV, but still reduce them. If you are high up in altitude and have clouds around, you can get more sunburned just because there is less atmosphere to absorb the UV.

That and southern hemisphere has less ozone. Why they get lots of skin cancer in Australia.
