This is what I need to be able to do.

I could really afford to drop 20 pounds but I don't know how. It seems to me like every time I've ever tried to "cut weight" by not eating the usual pound after pound of junk food I do I am like the biggest pussy ever in the gym and I dont even weigh a lot less because of it.

Do I just need to start smoking crack or what?

How do cut weight but keep muscle?

Cut out alcohol, sodas (an occasional diet drink is ok to kill some cravings), sweets, fatty foods, etc.

Basically, eat all of the RIGHT things and none of the junk. I recommend lots of lean chicken, tuna, salmon, dark green veggies, fresh fruits, etc. It takes about 10-14 days of going cold turkey on that kind of crappy food before you stop craving it all the time.

Then you have to force yourself to do a lot more cardio and lots of endurance weight-lifting (though if you want, you can still dedicate a day or two to heavy lifts). One thing that really helped me out was keeping a journal: I write down everything I eat/drink including the calories, and I also write down every exercise I do (weight, reps, minutes, etc.). If you write down everything, it makes you feel more guilty about eating junk food all the time. Figure out the average number of calories you eat per day for a week. Then...just eat less than that number....If you're eating 3000 calories a day, for instance, cut it down to 2200 and add in some light jogging and jump rope time every other day or so.

I lost 15 pounds of fat in a month by doing this type of setup. I'm 160 now, kinda splurged a bit after not needing to be 155 on Saturday. tongue.gif

My problem is an addiction to coffeehouse drinks. Green tea lattes, frappuchinos, chai... bad, high-calorie stuff. sad.gif
