QUOTE (Inferia @ Sep 14 2008, 01:44 PM) *
I've never heard of Obama before he ran for president either... Point being? All things aside, it's just two things that bothers me: 1) McCain went on a long diatribe about how inexperienced Obama is. This is fine, comparatively Obama is significantly less experienced I don't think Obama him self would even deny that (he went and picked a VP who has loads of experience to offset his inexperience in foreign affairs), but this theory falls through the crack when McCain pick someone who barely has any experience at all. 2) They seem to be treating this like some sort of popularity competition. Granted before Palin came about, a lot of media hype was on Obama, putting him on as the political celebrity of the new millennium. McCain camp hated this, and I agree, people should be looking at policies, etc and not how popular someone is. Instead of acting on what he's been saying this whole time, McCain seem to have picked someone so that she would be more of a celebrity than Obama. I mean wtf, there are many many many people in the republican camp, one of them is gotta be similar in belief as Palin, but with more experience. Okay, I know this is a competition, the point is to win, perhaps even by any means necessary. This is, however, seems utterly wrong.

big difference is a vice president can gain that experience first hand through being closely associated with the president... president doesn't have the option of an "internship" you're comparing apples to an anvil, in no way the same thing.

Yeah, but the weirdness about Palin is that she doesn't bring anything of real substance to the McCain campaign. She seems to have been chosen for demographic reasons -- to appeal to female voters that felt spurned after Hillary's loss (I think these voters are idiots, btw) and to hard-core conservatives that were wary of McCain's sometimes moderate positions.

From a purely practical standpoint, I think McCain would have done best to choose someone with a lot of experience on economic issues, since this is a weakness he's admitted. But, sadly, we're talking about politics, not practicality.

I have teh uber subcompact car with great gas mileage. I get nearly infinite carbon credits for that! (Besides, I'm sure a few folks on here would donate some to see a showdown between me and Brandon)

Go fuck yourself. Sheesh. If I get a reduction, maybe I should post another pic on here just to make all of you fuckers CRY.

Good lord, I'm just now watching Palin's interview with Gibson and I'm cringing! There's more generic BS in her answers than in my sophomore English papers.

(No, not saying Obama isn't generic in his speeches and interviews too, just saying that this particular interview is pretty bad)

The greatness in the interview isn't in having some dramatic new thing to say, it's how well she handles his pathetic lefty liberal media attempts to get her to spit out some one-liner Obama can use in his campaign.
