I just finished reading "This Is Your Brain on Music: The Science of a Human Obsession." It was authored by a guy who worked at a sound recording studio before going to MIT/Stanford/Oregon to become a neuroscientist.
Anyways, the first two chapters are a little hokey (explaining the parts composing of music) but once he dives into your brain activity while listening it is some pretty interesting stuff. -------------------- ![]() |

I'm currently reading "The Ash Garden" by Dennis Bock
Currently watching scrubs -------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

I'm currently reading Dearly Devoted Dexter. Not bad, better than the first book, still not as good as the Showtime series.

finished world war Z
not too bad a book, but if done right, this will be a great movie in 2010. hiring so many small time actors to play each of the little stories will be awesome, get some new blood swimming in the celebrity gene-pool. but, if done wrong... this could be a horrible flop. -------------------- |

The first two Dexter books are pretty good, but I'd recommend maybe picking them up at the library rather than buying them. The first season of the show more or less follows the plot of the first book, but then they diverge greatly. I've heard that the 3rd book is just bizarre, so I'm gonna hold off on that unless the 4th book gets good reviews.
I'm currently reading The Scent of Shadows. It's another urban fantasy book, but not quite what I expected. -------------------- |

Reading "A scanner darkly" by Philip K. Dick. I've read some of his other novels. I saw the movie so I decided i mine as well pick up the book.
