Great... we leave Friday and don't get to Georgia until Sunday. Just looked at the weather for Houston and for the cities we are making stops in (New Orleans and Jacksonville) and there is rain the entire time. Rain in Savannah all the way through the 10 day forecast

Do you get extra paid time off for inclement weather? I know some places make you take it out of your regular PTO balance.

To be precise it counts as "administrative time" or something. At least that was the code we were told to use when we got a day and a half off for TS Edouard. It definitely didn't take form our accrued vacation time smile.gif

Coolio. We have a similar deal here. If UT gets shut down because of weather or "natural disaster", we get free time off. Haven't had any of that since I started working here, though.

well if Gustov hits SE Texas I'd guess it will be at least a cat 3 or 4, so you just might get some time off heheh. I like these things, just don't want my house to flood.

not to mention there's 3 more tropical waves in the Atlantic right now the NHC is monitoring besides Gustov

I fucking hate the rain we've been having. I'm having to drive back and forth four times a day to put the damn dog in the garage, going to Bull Creek was ruined Saturday, and going to the lake was ruined Sunday.

Seriously, unless you own a farm or have a backyard with a serious grass growth problem, rain is useless.

Sweet, it started raining again. Time to take off work to go put the dog up again. Ugh

Or he could put a dog door in the side of the garage...

you and your logic

though somehow I doubt if a dog had a choice of staying in the garage or running out in the rain, it'd choose the latter.

You doubt that it would choose to run around in the rain? If so, then that would support the "doggie door" idea. tongue.gif

The house we're in now has two dog doors -- one from the backyard into the garage, then another from the garage into the house. We don't have a dog, but those would be hella convenient if we did.

The mayor of New Orleans is considering an evacuation on Friday (the day we get there.) I made non-refundable hotel reservations in the French Quarter. I'm gonna call the hotel to see if they can do anything. This is ridiculous. Non-refundable hotel reservations Saturday in Jacksonville and Sunday and Monday in Savannah. We have to leave this Friday. I'm thinking we could take a route farther north, but I have no fucking clue. I'm gonna have to map this out really well. I mean, all the weather reports I'm reading right now are saying it will make landfall on Monday which would be fine. Weather.com is only showing isolated thunderstorms in Houston, New Orleans, and Jacksonville as we pass through. That's fine too. I just don't want to get stuck somewhere in 10 inches of rain. It seems this is pretty unpredictable at the moment. Do any of you know a site that is good to read the up-to-date weather forecasts? Weather.com just isn't cutting it for me.

Oh and I did non-refundable because it was like $40 cheaper at each hotel to do it that way. We knew we had to be in Georgia this weekend so I figured it would be fine. Fucking weather.
