The job market in Houston is amazing, but damn I don't wanna live there....just too damned big sad.gif

It's not that bad. especially if you're an oil/chemical worker. You wouldn't even set foot in Houston city limits on a normal work day. You'd get to live in a great suburb with an easy drive, and still be 10-20 mins from just about anything in Houston that you'd want to do.

A coworker was talking today and said Houston was ranked as one of the cheapest cities to live in in the US. He then went on to list Dallas and said six Texas cities were in the top 10. Don't remember what article, but pretty sure it was based on Cost of Living.

Yeah, I read articles like that on Yahoo and every time Houston ranks as best city in the US to live because of cost of living, job market, and area attractions. Austin, San Antonio, Ft. Worth and Dallas always rank in the top ten as well.

I think Marble Falls is the cheapest place in Texas, at least a few years ago.

I've been to Marble Falls twice I think. It's alright. A lot of rich people live there. This company I used to work for had a store out in Marble Falls, and they sent me out there one day to do admin work because everyone except for one person called in sick. It was a pricey store, and we had some rich people come in.

Marble Falls is attracting a lot of Californians as well. It won't be cheap very soon.

Land is freakin expensive going out towards the lake now....(Lake Travis)

As my son lies sleeping on my chest (well, now that I type that he wakes up) I realize that I have now been a mommy over a month, and let me tell you: it has been the absolute best month of my life. They say babies can't really smile and that it's just gas, but if I lightly tickle him or rub his head or make silly faces at him, he smiles. It's so cute. He also LOVES to go out on the town. We have taken this kid to the River Walk, 3 movies, a bus tour of Austin, 2 malls, and more. He actually cries when we don't go out. It's so weird. He just likes to be on the go I guess.
