Since the water absorbs all the energy from the bullet.. Perhaps all we need is to wear a swimming pool around us mythbusters did it too. Was it true or was it a myth? being under warer protected you rromhigh powered rifles. a plain 9mm handgun had more penetration than the rifles. -------------------- |

[/quote] if you want shear stopping power, not much beats a 12 gauge slug for impact value, unless you get into wierd guns. low velocity, water wouldn't give much protection. you sacrifice range for mass, i was taught in my commissioning class that a bullet proof vest on a target will protect them from penetration, but the impact shock will still kill. rifles may or may not work on a vest, depending on if the vest has trama plates. the police officer that trained me said that when confronted with an armored suspect, they reach for either snipers, or the slug shotguns. rifle would depend more on the ability to penetrate through a target, and less on the impact. a 9mm in a vest still feels like someone hit you in the chest with a sledgehammer, a slug would be the equivelent of getting hit by a car. most rifles would have better range, power, and more likely to deliver a killing wound. but this is texas, theres a gun for every situation, we pick them like a golfer chooses from his clubs. -------------------- |

![]() Been done before think about it though, if you were wearing a bulletproof vest, you'd probably want a gun too (i'm thining military/police ops here). So, with all those electro magnetic shites floating around, chances are you wouldn't be able to hold/aim a gun. made out of metal. that shoots metal bullets. -------------------- WAIT. I'm not finished.

I remember someone once telling me that the material Oakley's are made of, are bullet proof. Is that true? and if so, why not just make a body suit outta that stuff!?

QUOTE (Lancifer @ Feb 23 2006, 10:24 AM) could sound waves be used to deflect bullets? it'd have to be one big directed sonic boom i am not a physicist what about a plate or suit or vest or whatever that constantly emmits waves. not really to stop the bullet but to slow it down. or maybe something that will break down the composition of a bullet so when it hits the vest it just breaks in pieces -------------------- |
