If McCain wants to win the election, he needs to prove that he's the elder statesman that he is (or should be), and not just by making campaign ads pointing it out. Simply saying that someone's inexperienced can be too easily turned into saying that they're new blood who will change things (which Obama has done). Look at these ads for what they are. Cheap (youtube is free) low-budget attempts to connect with the younger generation (those who watch youtube) by using an, admittedly, old fashioned sense of humor that, in it's attempt to be 'hip' and 'with it', turns out to be creepy and confusing.

I think the reason that he was likened to celebrities is that because he gets so much media attention, sometimes when there is a slow news day some of the sillier news programs will run something like "See if Obama is a boxers or a briefs man! When we come back on Access Hollywood!" and all that nonsense, similar to what you read on all of the gossip rags about celebs.
