You will be WAY better off in life if you get college done by the time you're 22.

Graduating when you're 26 like I did puts you way behind the curve.

If I'd have been graduating with a master's that probably would have been OK, but just getting your first BS like I did at 26 really didn't do me any favors.

Given I'm better off than not for getting the degree, but if I would have had my shit together and gotten the same degree when I was 22 I'd already probably have a 6 figure M-F 40-50 hour a week job as a manager for the company I'm with.

So, you have to know what you're doing for the rest of your life by the time you're eighteen? That's rare.

Horse shit. This is complete and utter horse shit.

If you think getting ahead in life is being full of stress and bills is getting a head of life, then I don't want to be ahead in life.

If you know what you want to do when you are 18, then yeah, go for it. If you don't, there is no point wasting time and money in college when you can be making money to go to college in the future AND POSSIBLY NOT HAVE TO TAKE OUT LOANS. If you know what you want, and it needs a degree, then by all means, get your degree.

This

Nothing against Jessica or her degree, but so many people go in thinking they have to know what they want to do from Day one. And if they don't, they're screwed. So, they pick a useless (or quasi-useless) degree and gow ith it and waste money on it. The manager of Sephora in Valpo has a BS in Psych. She's had it for six years now. Guess how many years she's used it and how many years it's benefitted her...

I never said pick a useless degree to go get. Yeah, you're right, if you get a degree in underwater basketweaving just like every other person does it's not gonna matter much, but if you get a valuable degree then go to work right out of college you'll more than likley double your starting salary by the time you're even remotley ready to settle down in life. Makes things a lot easier than dangling around until you're 30 trying to figure out "What I wanna be when I grow up".

I brought it up because I remember Jim being a EE. And tell your fiance to get a working job part time, even if its not great. Any job experience will help in an interview/on the real job. There have been engineers I work with who have no people skills and just did school work in college. My friend Sheng (Blue would know him) is making bank in NYC right now after getting out of Law School, but he works really hard in corporate law.

I think I am going to apply to med school one last year and just get a MBA if I do not get in.

I'm over it, if that's what you're asking.

Also, Law School costs are much higher than regular grad school costs :S

Shit, with her loans, we still get about 10k a year for living expenses and that's barely enough to cover bills all together.

Looking at her check stubs for the loans, I lied about the amount. Make it 8k.

Well hopefully history doesn't repeat itself. Ambitious women have a tendency to, well, move up.

Yes. The more ambitious a woman is, the more likley she is to exchange social, political, or workplace capital for the unrestrained use of her pussy for several hours at a time.

You have to be careful of those ambitious women .... crying.gif

But at the same time, it's kinda stupid to pick a degree just based on earning potential. It kinda seems like that is what you are saying, Dogmeat. Or close to what you are saying. Like we all have to pick useful degrees to major in when we start college. If everyone went that route, we wouldn't have hotel managers, psychologists, etc. We have to be happy with the choice we have made. I like that I chose print journalism. I want to be a writer for either a magazine or a news station or even an online news agency. I don't want to write for a newspaper. They are a dying industry, and I don't like newspaper news rooms anyway. I mean, now I just need to get my foot in the door somewhere since I have the education down.
