California has twice the number of illegal immigrants. However, both states have approximately the same pregnancy rates from data I've read from Google research. That would suggest that there is not a strong correlation between illegal immigrants and teen pregnancy rates.

1. You're looking at totals, not percentages. California has a higher overall population than Texas.
2. Your source is 8 years old dude. The page says 7 million total, and the estimated total right now is something like 13 million.
3. And I'm still waiting on the full list of % of pregnancies. Hell how about just the top 10?

I actually think you are being the retard here. Abstinence is taught at most private schools, and from my own experience, private schools have a much much lower pregnancy rate. Why? DURRR probably because 1) the kids aren't low income and 2) they aren't being taught how to fork each other. Sex education is stupid. Yeah, they should know what std's and pregnancy are and that if you chose to do something, you need to use a condom or other method of BC, but they shouldn't know HOW to do it, which is something that public schools are teaching now.

I would rather teach my children myself what I want them to know.

I don't feel like looking up stats for illegals, but here are some stats that might help. They are from census.gov.

California
Individuals below poverty level: 13.1%
Total population: 36,457,549
Hispanic or Latino (of any race): 13,074,155 or 35.9%

Texas
Individuals below poverty level: 16.9% (That's a pretty big percentage increase IMO over California)
Total population: 23,507,783 (much lower than California)
Hispanic or Latino (of any race): 8,385,118 or 35.7% (about the same percentage wise)

The thing is, though, that we can't equate the number of LEGAL Hispanics to the number of illegal ones there are. I just was throwing those numbers out there just for shits and giggles. The 3% increase in poverty level is what I find interesting, though.

I found this: The Federation of American Immigration Reform estimates that in 2007 Texas had 1,740,000 persons living here illegally. This is part of an overall estimate of the U.S. illegal alien population of about 13 million persons. I added that number to the total population and come up with a figure of 6.89% (check my math. It's 4:30 a.m.)

I can't find up-to-date figures for California. I can just find stuff from 2000, which was 8 years ago so I'm not posting on that. Someone else is more than welcome to attempt it. I just googled "percentage of illegal immigrants in California."

Here's an idea, stop giving stuff away free to those who choose to continue to have sex and children.

I think we reward the having of children too much. The point is that if you can't afford to have a child and take care of that child, you shouldn't have had sex and become pregnant. End of story. Yet, this behavior is alright because the government is there to give handouts.

There has to be a consequence for a poor decision. Not saying hurt the kids, by all means if the parents can't provide then CPS should step in until they can.

It reminds me of the child who died in a hot car this past weekend. His parents left him in the car for two hours because "they forgot". The only reason you forget your kid is either you don't really care about him or you're drunk/high.

yea.. had something explained to me today by a chick who seems to be "proud" she's jewing the system.

she has 3 kids. is not married to the father, therefore she claims a massive amount of welfare income. then, she claims Disability. the girl is 21 yers old, claims she has a learning disorder and is already claiming social security.(trust me, the girl isn't stupid, she just managed to fake it real good) because she's unemployeed and a single mother, she automatically qualifies for HUD. so her housing cost is reduced to about $120 a month for a 4 bedroom house. on top of that, she also recieves foodstamps. she drove up in a 2006 firebird with some blinged out wheels, told me that she recieves about 1000 a week in checks....

Because our tax dollars still pay for it when the baby is born here and is technically considered a legal citizen, therefore giving the mother eligibility to be here.
