I do not know a single person with an iPod who hasn't gotten frustrated with it in some way. well now you do. i've never once had a problem with any of the iPods i've ever owned. Specifically, why did you buy it (obviously you guys getting in a hissy fit own them)? To carry around 30+gigs of music and to listen to on demand. Which other music players did you consider? a few at the time. i've stuck with the ipod ever since because it is a good design and a good product. What did you use to listen to your music before you bought your iPod? a creative zen mp3 thing and a cd player. And you would probably be one of the more sensible people who's purchased one.
So do you think that if the iPod never existed, it's 140 million sales would have fallen to other music players? Do you at least see what I'm saying, even if you don't necessarily agree with it? And again, I'm not saying it's a bad thing for it to be a fad. Hell I'd love to have a product like that that would make me billions. So in summary: -Extremely popular -Popularity drives sales, not function -No other similiar item comes close in sales I think those three things constitute a fad, and the iPod, crocs, slap bracelets, huge sunglasses, etc all fit that criteria. |

Impala...half the time agree with you, half the time I disagree. But there is one area where I'll never ever be wrong...

Well, I called AT&T, and they basically said that my plan wont really go up if I upgrade to the iPhone 3G. They said there will be an all inclusive package that has unlimited data and unlimited text for $40 a month, which is what I pay now with my iPhone.
If that's indeed true, then I won't mind paying $200 for a new phone and getting faster download speeds. |

Apple works for some people...and for others it doesnt.
People just have to make a huge deal out of it because Apple makes it flashy and "cool" to own. I own my iMac because I actually USE it for graphic design, etc. The only iPod I ever owned was the 3rd gen models that were notorious for battery life (there was actually a class action lawsuit for those models) and the way I worked around it was to plug it into my car lighter outlet. Of course it's mainly used as a paperweight now but I may go for another iPod in the future. Apple has always had a douchebag marketing strategy. They did that way back in the day with the AppleTV (the original one that had the coax cable hookup and bunny ears....not the current day AppleTV). -------------------- "Ah, y'know it's funny, these people they go to sleep, they think everything's fine, everything's good. They wake up the next day and they're on fire."

You never, ever know when to give up on a failed argument. Show me where this one is failed. And it's not like I'm the mean one in this one. All I did was say I think they're a fad, then get all the owners' panties in a wad apparently... If you guys don't think they are I got no problem with that. I think my reasoning is pretty sound though. If you don't think so you're welcome to tell me why instead of the same ol song & dance of "durrrrrrrrrrrr impala argues dumb hur hur hur duuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr". |

Well, when I bought the first iPhone, I was already an AT&T customer...and I was in a family plan, so all I had to do was add the $20 for the unlimited data on top of my current plan.
The lady said basically I would keep my current voice plan, and wipe out my data and text plans and add on ones to cover the 3G thing. She said it was $30 separately for the 3G data and visual voicemail, and $20 for unlimited text. I asked if there would be a package to get both unlimited and get a little discount, and she said that there is a package to get both data and text unlimited for $40. So, basically my bill stays the same.... Regular iPhone $79.99 for 1400 minutes $9.99 for extra line $19.99 for unlimited data and 200 text $19.99 upgrade to unlimited text iPhone 3G $79.99 for 1400 minutes $9.99 for the extra line $40 for the data and text |

I think when I had 1400 minutes it was 129.99. That's why I thought that was a good deal.
